  1. Did you take the 11f 50% up front or the 25k per year for 5 years? If so, what is the actual dollar amount you got deposited and we can help look at the math.
  2. How exactly are you such an expert on the crash to be able to tell others to chill out and have a sit down with officials?
  3. Jaded--copy that. I don't want this thread to go the way of taxes so I will shut up for now. On another note, anybody figured/guestimated what the actual net payment will be after taxes if and 11F takes 50% up front?
  4. I admit that I am a total retard when it comes to filing taxes. I've done a little reading on max income to contribute to Roth IRAs. Anybody thought about if taking the 11F 50% up front if it will push them beyond that limit? I see that in 2012 the max for married filing jointly is 173K.
  5. Just went all in filled out the application on AMS for the 11F/20 YAS $. Bob's machine says there are already over 250 turned in so far. Anybody gotten the actual contract to sign yet?
  6. Anybody else have an RDTM that is blank...mine is at least on the DVB. Update: apparently it displays on my surf in ams....why would they have two products that don't display the same thing? Standard
  7. Sorry man but I don't see how your poor real estate decision(s) has anything to do with the ACP. Nobody forced you to buy that house. Real estate carries risk like any investment.
  8. I am 11F and know we may be hurting a little more now, but it is crazy for them to not offer the same to heavies. That community will be totally broken as a result of aviation hiring soon enough.
  9. damn, it is different. just saw it. interesting.....Anybody know when the clock starts for Years of Aviation Service (YAS)? i.e. pilot training graduation or upt start date? I found this after a search. I would assume pilot training start date...but not sure. YAS: Service computed beginning with the effective date of the initial order to perform aviation service. It may be adjusted for breaks in military service and/or periods of non-permanent disqualification, as defined by the Secretary of the Military Department concerned
  10. I can see some of the 2013 ARP items...but nothing actually mentions a dollar amount for pilots. I'm sure it is 25K per year as the eligibility for 50% up front and 5 year commitment looks identical to last year's. Didn't see a PDSM for 2013.
  11. You said it exactly, in the end I'm not all that surprised. Depressing
  12. No kidding. I think it was just to let some of the fiscal tempers settle down before they post it on af.mil. Just a tactic to make it sound like pilots aren't getting bonuses in a time of austerity. The name change is part of that as well. On another note, no increase or change to the plan is not going to improve retention. The same death spiral will still exist. Should be interesting.
  13. Until next quarter when they are masked again.....and guys realize they spent a significant amount of cash, time, etc on a often worthless degree. I am AAD complete but hope for the sake of morale and spirit of the masses that we turn this lunacy off.
  14. Dude I don't know how long you've been in but you sound like you know a lot. The "clearly labeled boxes" you speak of have not been always so clearly labeled. I was at Aviano when Jumper was CSAF and he came down to the squadron to give a pep speech to the pilots. When asked about AADs he said "If the AF wants you to get a Master's we will send you....and I want my Capts and LTs to be tactical zealots and focus on that." Oh, and at the time AADs were masked. So, no the containers haven't always been clear. I found myself scrambling in 08-09 to knock out an AAD all the while serving in the most demanding squadron/leadership position I have had so far on AD. So, no the containers are only clear as of recent, and they will change again. You are wrong dude. Peace
  15. The AF I am on exchange duty has New Balance make all of their PT gear, and they are issued it for free. Full-up running suits for winter and summer...as well as top of the line running shoes. Damn embarrassing that USAF can't even come close to that. I guarantee it is easier to source and cheaper than our USAF PT plastic gimp suits.
  16. 7 years at 35k a year might be a game changer. That "devil money" as someone else on here called it might be compelling.
  17. Wonder if they are gonna offer the 50% up front this time. That would be a decent chunk of change for the 7 yr option
  18. Have you seen whether or not "ole 777" is parked in his driveway?
  19. This is standard in every fighter squadron I've been in. Unfortunate.
  20. Dude, epic post. I have been on exchange for the last 1.5 years and had almost forgotten the all-sinking depression of Big Blue. Now, I face the choice of coming back to the pain-fest that is AD Big Blue or punching. Thanks for a dose of reality.
  21. I'm on exchange in Europe also and a long while back the US ODC in my country worked a handshake deal to have the host nation military post courier pick up packages for me and drop them off at my base. It is not frequent or particularly timely but it gets the job done for some items. Sometimes it takes 2 weeks and others 2 months. For letters, the ODC picks them up for me at the embassy post office and throws them in the foreign post every couple of weeks. Again, just a handshake deal as I am the only exchange officer in country. Never did a mail run to the embassy as it is too expensive (tolls) and mileage won't cover as far as I know. For the most part if we want something right away we suck it up and mail international post. FYSA I am also three hours away an DPO and over 8 to a US base.
  22. Same here. I was very clear that only big money would keep me on AD
  23. Apparently the viper assignment porch sent zero to UAVs last VML according to the webpage.
  24. I'm with you on the GI bill point. I'm factoring that in as well, as I wasn't married and had no kids at the time when it came out. Now that I'm considering taking the bonus I can transfer the GI bill over to our baby boy. I still don't know if it is enough to make me sign the bonus but it definitely ups the value. This definitely won't be an easy call (if they actually offer the bonus that is)
