  1. My wife and I have been on the waiting list for a few weeks now (#13 today, 30-60 days?) and will be at Vance on July 9th. They said we'll be waiting to move in by living in lodging bldg 713, a small TLF, I think. We also have a besenji/jack russel mix who they said we would have to put him in a kennel until we move into family housing.

Will the wait be that long? Is there a better way not to put my dog in a kennel? I don't know anyone yet in family housing at Vance that could put my dog up before we move in. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Cucci

  2. I will be commissioning in June and be on casual status at Edwards while I await pilot training. Can anyone share some info on life as a new butter-bar awaiting UPT in the Mojave desert?

How could I get in a flying squad? And, how do sandbag rides work with Flight Test Squadrons?

    Thanks.

  3. Well, it has been a while and my local bartending job has given me some money that I wan't to spend on some flying.

It has been a while since I flew last and I need to get my bi-anual/prof check w/ an instuctor at my flying club. With this I wanted to get checked out in our complex C172RG w/ a manditory 10hrs (for insurance) and I can also bang out some instrument time during that.

Not sure how much time I want to train (spend $) w/ an instuctor... Does anyone have any suggestions I should focus on that would help for UPT prep during this flying time?

Also... What is the best T-6 Flight Sim out there?

(I know..UTFSF, but there is some new t-6 sim stuff that is coming out and I'm seeing if anyone knows of the best.)

    Thanks,

    Cucci

  4. Thanks for all the great info. I love to fly and this just seems like the next step to keep learning and stay sharp while I wait to commission + Casual before UPT.

What are the differences in civilian and military instrument training?

I play around on T6driver.com quite a bit, what is the best material to read/go over before UPT?

Anything else to get ready? Thanks.

  5. I have the same problem and have found NEXIUM is the best, but you need a Rx. Prilosec is the next best OTC.

I have to go to brooks next year before UPT and I'm woundering if they will find out if I have Acid Reflux Disese or find out if I'm on meds if I don't tell them? What should I do to not get DQ and stay flying?

  6. I searched around a little bit and didn't find a whole lot of info on Instrument ratings before UPT.

I have 1 year before I pin on the butter-bars, have just over 100hrs in a 152 and am interested in getting my instrument.

My question is: if you can afford it, is it worth it to get instrument rated before UPT? Does it make that much more of a difference? Pros/Cons?
