  1. My commander explained that as pilots, you don't really make the calls. He said that the best thing you can do is to advise on the situation, but if you are still told to bomb the bad guys, it's just unfortunate that those civilians are in the area. So essentially you're just executing orders as told... But not completely mindless. If that makes any sense. Thats what I said anyway, and it seemed to work.
  2. Any word yet? I'm just curious because I may be in a similar situation with the whole double vision if I look as far to my left as I can thing.
  3. Here's what I can remember being asked: Why do you want to fly here? As an officer and a pilot, which is more important? What's something you've failed at? What is going to keep you here? (I had no connections in the area) What would you do if you were hired on at your home base right after we called you? What do you do if you're cleared hot, and you see civilians where you'll drop? What if we switched to C-130's during your training? Short but sweet.
  4. I guess in comparison, Utah would definitely be better that Vermont. Utah must just be Colorad's Vermont.
  5. I couldn't give you an exact number, but I know that a handful of them fly for some sort of airline. And last time I skied in Utah, all I remember thinking was Vermont in the middle of a sleet storm had better skiing. To each his own!
  6. I just interviewed out there last fall (I crew the jets there) and like everyone said, it's hard to get picked up there. They took a guy off the street this year that had already interviewed with them, and all across the country. It was also the first time in 4 years that they interviewed, but I believe they are trying to get into a more regular 2-year hiring schedule. Cheers, Ramathorn
  7. I know most Units want a picture, and that's no problem, but what if a picture isn't on the list? Would it be smarter to still send one in, or just skip it? Cheers, Ramathorn
  8. What was the original problem you had?
  9. You do not to be finished with training to being applying. If you get accepted to an officer AFSC, it trumps your enlistment. When you are at basic, you're pretty much stuck, but I know a few people who interviewed during tech school. I interviewed during my on the job. It's really all down to the degree for timing, but enlisting is always a huge plus, if not just for the military experience.
  10. So what sort of parameters apply to the DA 20 in the overhead? A 1000' descent from the perch would seem to build up a ton of airspeed on that plane. What kind of combination of speed, bank, and altitude make for a successful pattern in the Eclipse? I've always wondered. Ramathorn
