  1. Thank you very much everyone. I am not going for my PPL- I was just interested in getting comfortable with flying. I should do ground school? I am not sure I have enough saved for both.

PM me you address and I'll send you some copies of the Sporty's DVDs I made a few years ago if you want.

    Edit for: detailz

  2. That was always part of the plan, along with F-18s and Harriers. I'm not saying it makes sense. I'm saying it's nothing new.

No, definitely not new. I just wake up everyday hoping to run into someone who can explain why and my response isn't 'I don't get it.'

  3. I'm sticking with neither. See above and tell me you find it easy to believe the BO can't figure out what an A-10s tail number might be.

The TN on the F-16 is nowhere near the receptacle, or forward facing at all, so maybe it would be better if Daddy Mac asked "for the jets that don't have painfully obvious tail numbers like the A-10, which would be easier, callsign or TN's?"

  4. Tebow seems like a good dude, but he's far from a great QB, which makes the meadia's slobbering all over his nuts (especially here in Denver) a little hard to take (sts). I just hope the Pats put Denver to shame so I can turn on ESPN and go without hearing how he is one of the greatest closers of all time.

  5. Hello everyone, I'm resurrecting an old thread because my question is brief and related to this topic..

I am a sophomore in college, my primary goal/focus is to get a pilot slot in the guard, at this point i'm looking towards fighters. I have an opportunity to enlist in a unit that supports vipers. My question is whether or not you all believe that would be a good move, I am in my second year so taking time off to go to basic and tech school would conceivably take me out of school for a year (two semesters), since my plan is to start applying as soon as I get my degree, is this even a good use of time? second, and a little more obscure question, I have just put a down payment of $750.00 to get orthodontic braces, this is non refundable. Although I would sacrifice all of that hard earned cash for the sake of a shot at UPT. I'll just say that my teeth and jaw really need to be fixed soon. It is only recently that I discovered you can't have braces in basic.

At this point, should I just focus on beefing up my package and abandon my thoughts of enlisting? How many out there have gotten picked up by the guard without prior enlisting? My research has shown me very few...

    thank you for your time.

If I had a dime for every time this question was asked, I'd have a lot of dimes...

Learjetter is right though. It's a pretty split group. I enlisted my sophomore year, and it all worked out for me as far as getting great insight, advice, etc. My buddy got hired off the street, but he had a few thousand hours flying regionally.

So it all comes down to you personally, because it can go a million ways.
