Esotropia

I recently found out I have esotropia in my left eye. Now it sounds like I have to go in for 3 different depth perception tests, the red lens test, and something else. I did a search for this topic and didn't get any hits. I know the reg has lots of references to diplopia, but my optometrist said it isn't the same and there are no references to esotropia in the reg. I've passed the five horizontal dot depth perception test (after a few tries), and am concerned about taking all these tests.

Should I be terribly concerned? Please advise...

I've checked the database. Its about 50:50 just looking at Esotropia and FC1. If you are microesotropia and can pass depth perception...you are probably in the g2g group. If you've got esotropia just looking at you...gonna be a problem.

Sir,

They didn't note the esotropia until they did a test with a tiny ball on the end of a stick which was held about 12 inches in front of me. Apparently, when I switched vision between my right and left eye the left would pull to the left very briefly before returning to center. Hopefully the tests go well...

I didn't do very well on the depth perception tests when I went in for my DoDMERB, and the doc said he doesn't think my DP is good enough for pilot. Is the DoDMERB eye exam the final say or can I try out some vision therapy things and if it improves retest later on?

Oh and I went to a specialist and he says I have a very small case of esotropia, and he says even he barely noticed. He also said there is a chance that therapy would work.

I just want to make sure if the DoDMERB disqualifies me for pilot there is some way down the road to retest.

But if they don't give you potential pilot qualified on the DoDMERB medical then you can't go to Brooks. How would you overturn a "not qualified" ruling given by a DoDMERB exam?

Also, does your depth perception have to be really good in order to be a Nav. I have esotropia which throws my depth perception off, but would it be a problem for the FC1a mecial?

Depth perception is a go/no-go item for Nav as well. Esotropia is a go/no-go item for both.

There are a lot of folks on here who get NPQ from DoDMERB but move forward. I'll let them answer their individual experiences.
