The dumb-fu@kery in this situation is hard to comprehend.

The manager said he was "offended by his passion for the flag"...really?! Since when did respecting the flag become offensive or a "political affiliation"?

Another gut-punch to my faith in the future of this country...

I definitely agree about the self-righteous attitude that has become much more common lately.

I hope he was fired for something like what you described; given the normal standard of (any) media outlet today it's probably somewhere in between.
