Okay, so I am an ROTC cadet, have my slot, and have already passed medical at Brooks, just waiting to graduate.

I have a question however. I have had a family friend who is a general practice doctor identify something on my arm known as a lipoma. its kind of a fatty cyst that is apparently not a big deal. I however, would like to get it removed because it's just annoying to me. Its like the size of a small grape and is slightly noticeable just looking at it. Question is, does this DQ me? I didn't mention it at my physical because I was told it's not a big deal. Any input on what I should do would be greatly appreciated, and if anyone knows the regs for waivers on something like this would b ea great help.

Its not a big deal. Not DQ. If you want it removed it can be done before UPT and will not impact you. If you wait until UPT, it could be removed, but you'd be DNIF for a day and have to deal with getting back to the clinic for suture removal and all (not a big deal but most UPT studs would rather stay out of the clinic).

Thank you so much.. I'm guessing by your sn you're a flight doc, so that's a relief. Should I just go to a general surgeon, plastic surgeon, or could a gp do it? Also, will i have to head back to brooks after the surgery is done?

Thanks again

No brooks.

The gp could remove the lipoma depending on where the lipoma is and if they feel comfortable removing it. Otherwise, they will refer you to someone who can perform the procedure.

either of the surgeons can perform the removal.
