~Update to TDY gouge for Chievres, Belgium (MONS). (I am a pilot based here): Chievres is about 25 minutes from the nearest big city, Mons. There is very little support in the way of RON's. Transportation is EXTREMELY limited and you should bank on either trying to rent a car on base (Tues-Fri 9a-5p) at Sixth Rental or plan on taking a Taxi from the gate. Transient Alert or Trans should help you get to one or the other. NO PASSENGER TERMINAL. Do not plan to dump your pax off and leave, they will be stuck unless they have coordinated trans and Base Ops will keep calling the AC for coordination. Brussels is a 100 Euro Cab ride there and 150 Euro back if you think it is worth it. Prior coordination is critical. Not to be negative, but too many crews (with their pax) have been left at the gate thumbing for rides. If you are just looking for a gas and go, great place with top notch service, if you want to RON in the Brussels area, go to Charleroi (Brussels South). Good transportation to Brussels and good support from Signature Aviation. Mons nightlife is hit or miss, get here for a festival such as the DouDou and it is a party to remember. The scene picks up late and don't just hang out at the Grand Place, the "petite" Place just down the road (to the left of the McDonalds in the Grand Place) is much more active.
