  1. I just spent four months of my life serving as a recorder on a FEB and know way more than I care to admit.

After the board adjourns, much time is spent waiting for the court reporter to produce the transcript. Then both the senior board member and recorder have to audit the transcript... blah blah blah

Then a multitude of legal reviews commence, beginning at the Wing level up through the chain before it is dropped on the desk of the final authority. My MAJCOM/CC has delegated final authority down to his DO. (Not sure if this is standard)

So yes, sit and wait. It does take time.

    Feel free to PM.

  2. This kind of goes in this thread...I believe I am having a grievance filed on me by a GS-9 that I supervise. I gave written counseling that I feel she is deficient on certain parts of her PD (neglecting certain tasks) and set suspenses to address said deficiencies. Apparently getting suspensed to do your job is too much for some people and she had a meeting with the union rep today. Is there any way in hell I'm going to get in any trouble over this? My CC told me he thinks the grievance is a joke and he supports me. Is there any way in hell I'm going to get in any trouble over this?

I'm assuming you're active duty and she is a straight civilian. This can get complicated in the world of technicians and reservist.

If she is a straight civilian and you are active duty, no you won't get in trouble. Emasculated maybe--trouble no.

  3. But isn't it in the diet? I have no clue what kind of food they serve in the AFA and when serving as a pilot. I really feel relieved by what you said, but I'm still concerned about what you actually get to eat at the AFA and as a AF pilot. Do you get to choose?

    Spatial disorientation. Check.

So you sit down at your very first AFA dinner and they serve you a huge plate of peanuts with a side of pine nuts.

Simple, forgo the meal. You'll live to fly another day.

PS Dont post on FB how you are smarter than the MAN.

  4. The ARC gets a bunch of free Lts.

This reminds me of the implementation of the pilot "bank" concept in 1991. We were just about through 38's when they showed up and briefed us that there weren't enough jets for all of us. Orignally, those in my class who didnt have a seat when the dust settled were allowed to seperate and join ARC/guard units the day they pinned on their wings. Some are still flying today, no staff, and 69% less queep.

  5. Amen brother...I would much rather see CSAF flying to Pedro base X every weekend with 69 cases of beer and chicken wings.

    Great theory.

I can see it now...packages are due to the OG/CC by COB tomorrow on who will actually drink beer and eat chicken wings with the CSAF...nominees will have a minimum of blah blah blah....

  6. Just goes to show that you should have armoured up your vehicles with cameras, scanners, and recordable GPS tracking equipment. Since you are a slacker and have yet to accomplish these tasks, I suggest sending the ticket in with a note "come get me suckas".

Since I know the beer will be cheap, will you at least make me some of those buffalo shrimp again?

  7. It is based on the position. You'll be a step 12 unless you're an IP, in which case you'll start at a GS-13 assuming the job is listed as "Airplane Flight Instructor". You could possibly start at a Step 3 if you have extra qual's (example: RTU unit and RTU IP experience), but it depends on the local unit policy.

Since you're a pilot, you'll also receive a locality adjustment of 30% instead of the percentage listed on the opm.gov site--which can be quite nice

  8. http://bigpeace.com/dreaboi/2011/05/03/new-book-on-ksm-us-military-defers-to-inmates-hides-us-flag-at-gitmo/

I was stunned to learn while researching Mastermind that Guantanamo detainees succeeded in convincing prison officials to no longer raise the American flag anywhere they could see it. Each morning on every U.S. military base around the world, the American flag is raised to a bugle. But in the interests of not offending the detainees, it was stopped at Guantanamo.

    Seriously, WTF.
