Post revival.. I am currently hired/sponsored by my AFR unit for a UPT slot. I have only attended my FC1 and passed. Now I’m waiting to choose my OTS/UPT dates. While I’ve been waiting my dream ANG unit just opened up their hiring window, which coincidentally was the unit I started my AF career as enlisted. I left that ANG unit for the current AFR unit I am in, with no issue or personal qualms; just life changes. Splitting an even 6 years at each unit respectively. The reasons I’m wanting to go back to the ANG unit is due to wanting to be closer to home, it’s the same platform/mission so my skillset should coincide just fine, my family wants to move to a different area from where we are currently. That being said, I don’t want to burn bridges as said before which I don’t think I will granted I mesh well with almost everyone from my current AFR unit and have devoted 6 years of full-time work for this unit. Just looking for general advice, should I apply to the ANG unit? Hypothetically if I do get hired, what does that look like timeline wise? I’m not sworn in as an officer yet nor even attended OTS. I realistically have 3 months to make this decision now until another opportunity comes up in the future after UPT/PIQ. Thanks!
