Good timing on the thread revival,
Just PCS'd, we left our lease a month early and gave the landlord 30 days notice prior to leaving, they accepted that and there were no problems once they saw the orders. The problem is tho i had already paid rent for February and we left on the 12th. Am i entitled to receiving back pay since the 12th was 30 days from when we gave the notice? Searched all over the google machine and could not find anything.

I think the bold Face is about to change so i would wait a lil bit before studying anything, + just wait till you get you your base, you will have plenty of time to study bold face and other things.

Thanks for the input. I went through MEPS and scored 20/100 in both eyes, I also passed the depth perception test down to line D. I know i had better vision than that score. I recently went to my optometrist and she told me I have 20/50L or and 20/100R she also gave me a depth perception test as well which went fine. My merdian was -1.50L and -1.25R with no astigmatism. If you fail the test at WP (formerly Brooks) can you go to a local doctor down the street and retest, and will they accept the results. I have heard of this being done for the depth perception test.
I passed brooks with 20/100 in my right and 20/70 in my left. When i go see a civilian doc they tell me im about 20/70 in my right and 20/50. If i remember correctly my meridian was around the same may be wrong tho. I was prior enlisted and at MEPS i failed my depth perception test and my vision was like 20/70 at the time( was like 7 years ago so I am not sure) It didn't seem like they looked at any of my prior medical records when going through brooks so don't worry about it.

Looking at storage units for enid ( im single but have been living on my own for the past 7 years, lots of junk and its nice so i dont want to sell it) anyone have any good ideas of one? Was calling around most dont seem to have security cameras and full fences. Anyone have any experience with this?
Cheers
If anyone needs a storage unit in Enid, go with Crescent storage. The owner is flexible great prices and all his locations are extremely clean with great security for a small town storage facility.

I went to Brookes in early November, passed with out any major problems... my package is at state just waiting on dates. I was talking to the training head at my unit and he was saying AMS is a complete cluster F$#k... With that said our unit hasnt sent anyone to AMS in a few months and they are looking at October as the next class. Question i am getting to, havnt been able to find it in the regs if you dont go to UPT within a year of taking your FC1 medical do you have to retake it???

I am new to this thread and have read most of it closely looking for answers to my questions. Here is my situation:
I am in AFROTC. When I received my scholarship I was Potentially Pilot Qualified through DoDMERB. So, I guess I was better then 20/70. Problem is that was three years ago and now I believe that my eyesight has gotten a little worse. Early next year (Feruary 2009) I am categorizing for my pilot slot. Since I am cleared by DoDMERB I know that I am cleared and good to go. Problem is that I am deathly afraid of going to Brooks later on down the road and being DQed for having vision that is a little worse than 20/70.
At this point it is to late for me to get Lasik surgery before I categorize since I found out that you have to be three months into the Checklist before the categorization package deadline. So here are my questions:
Can I get the surgery after I get my pilot slot (hypothetical situation), then wait one year, get my waiver and then go to Brooks? I have read that I need to get my FC I one year after being selected for pilot or before commissioning, whichever one comes first. So, will I have enough time to get the surgery in March, wait one year and then go to Brooks? My commissioning date is June 2011.
If I were to choose not to get the surgery: How strict is the 20/70 mark at the FC I physical. Can I get a waiver if my vision is a little bit worse then that mark especially since it was once recently under that mark? Right now I am -1.25 in one eye and -1.75 in the other. Would I be automatically disqualified would I have an option for a waiver?
Thank you so much for the help. I am sweating bullets here and finding information is extremely hard.
I just went through brooks early November, and was in the same situation with my eyes... i was 20/70 in my left and 20/100 in my right, as long as you are 20/200 or better you have nothing to worry about its a simple waiver that goes through AETC. Good Luck

Thanks, thats what i was thinking. I dont have many points never been deployed was hoping it was based on time.

Was just wondering if anyone knew if coming in as an O1E was based on points or time in service... I have been in for almost 6 years but i am a DSG so i dont have a whole lot of points under my belt, my guess is its points any one know for sure?

You don't/can't initiate the waiver process. The docs at Brooks will handle it if needed. You're well within waiver range, no need to worry or have additional testing done.

Hey goducks, just wondering how you know all this info, personal experience or have you been a part of the waiver process?

Thanks, Last i got my eyes checked my bad eye was 20/60 and that was about 7 months ago. Much more comforting to know i dont have to squint as much

Looking through some of the posts i haven't seen a clear answer on this, i know that the vision is 20/70 for Air Force, what will/do they waiver it up to? Im about 20/70 in my right eye 20/40 in my left.
Thanks
