  1. My understanding of that was it wouldn’t be held against you if you had an approved waiver/ETP. So the board won’t see it because they are looking at known eligible applicants regardless of waiver/ETP etc. So in my mind there would be some mitigation against awarding slots to applicants they are unsure about being qualified. In an extreme case, if everyone was pooled together unknowing of IFCs/ETPs being done then all of the slots could be awarded only to find out none of them have necessary IFC physicals for what they were awarded (differing class physicals matter here). This is why I think there is some sort of risk mitigation favoring people AFPC already knows are qualified. Just my two cents.

First off, this is not a notification post. Sorry.

Got a little clarification on this from the board yesterday. If someone gets a slot and their medical clearance or FDETP does not get approved, then they will backfill that slot from the board. If someone fails at MFS, that slot will not be filled. Thought that was interesting.

Gentlemen, I see that you are attempting to apply the concepts of logic and reason to the Air Force. I must caution you against this, as side effects may include explosion of your brains.

Weav, well said. The Air Force likes to live its life one quarter mile at a time. With rated retention staying high due to COVID effects on the private sector, they may not have to produce as many new rated members in FY21 to meet the current demand. Now how that looks in the long-run in a post-vaccine world and once the airlines pick back up is TBD.

I’ve spoken with a few people with insight to the personnel world, and they didn’t think the number of slots would be significantly cut, but we’re all in the dark until the PSDM drops. I emailed the org box last week and they’re still expecting a mid-Feb release date. They are going to update the portal page once the date gets nailed down. Last year’s results came out on Wednesday, November 6, with a similar timeline. So we are starting to get close to the window.
