Are any of the sims FAA certified at UPT? wondering if any of those hours count.

From what i found searching the google, for actual jet time you will get 96 hours in the T-6 and 42.8 hours in the T-1 with UPT 2.5

I have a follow-up question to this.  With the T-1 Sim Only Advance Phase of UPT now, are you strictly doing academics and sim rides for the entirety of that 5-6 month period of time?  Obviously not going to go fly the T-1, but do you get any real-world T-6 rides during that training?  It seems pretty wild that you get winged at the end of T-6 and then don't fly a real airplane for 6 months again until you go on to your assigned airframe.

Off the street Guard C-130 Hire Timeline:

-Packet sent to State / NGB without swearing in (recruiter fault): Early March 2023

-Packet kicked back from NGB with notice to appoint (swear in): Mid April 2023

    -Swear in: Late April 2023

-Packet sent to back to State / NGB: Late April 2023

-Packet approved by State / NGB: Early July 2023

-FC1: Mid July 2023 (One waiver recommended)

    -FC1 Approved: ?

    -Orders: ?

    -OTS: ?

    -UPT: ?

While I'm here anyone have an FC1 waiver pass recently and have a timeline on that?

    Thanks in advance!

Thats interesting that the unit got you all the way to the NGB approval level before sending you to FC1.  From what I've seen thats the first step before they do any paperwork...

    Question for the group..

Are packages usually sent back to the unit recruiter level after State approval to be sent to NGB or are they sent straight from state to NGB?  My package went to the state for TAG signature this week and I'm just curious what the next steps look like.

  3. Little update to my timeline here.

    Applied:  Feb 22

    Board/Notified of selection: Nov 22

    FC1: Feb 23

Package submitted to Wing CC:    May 23

Package allegedly signed by CC and routed up to state/NGB level: June 23

On another topic, I'm hearing lots of different things about this OTS revamp going on.  Expecting the class schedule for next FY to drop around September?  Hoping for my package to be postured and approved at the NGB level by that time so that I can jump on the bus early in the FY.

I was actually able to get some more info after some digging. So it sounds like NGB projects out where they expect you to be slotted and you can get projected "soft dates" for UPT (including the base and the breakdown between phases) from NGB A3 but you don't get a formal TLN until after graduating OTS.

Sounds like the norm is most people don't formally find out until they're actually at OTS. Training makes the formal request then to get the TLN through the A3 NGB Rated Management Org Box once they have the forms 133 and 337.

Thanks for posting this update.  I'm at the stage where I'm impatiently waiting on my recruiter to send me the officer packet paperwork to fill out so she can submit it.  I was also curious about this, and from what I've seen here, most people go and come back for a period before starting UPT.  It would be fantastic to have some soft dates and a location to start planning for life as early as possible.

Off the street hire at a Guard Tanker Unit.

March 2023 Update: UPT Complete (syllabus)

AMF check last week, just over a month ahead of schedule. Graduate in mid April.

    AFOQT/TBAS: July 2016

    Board: November 2019

    Hired:  November 2019

MEPS: Passed April 2020 amid the 'rona outbreak.

    Enlistment: June 2020.

    FC1: September 29, 2020

    FC1 Stamped Approved: November 2020

    NGB approval: March 2021

    OTS: August 2021

UPT: March 2022 - April 2023, Laughlin AFB, TX.

FTU: May - October 2023 Altus AFB

Cheers on making it through UPT.  Is there a difference between FTU and PIQ or do they essentially mean the same thing?

  6. Worked for me.  Showed up with a $40-$45 bottle of whiskey.  Nothing extreme but something I'd want to drink!  Left it in my truck for the interview but at the end when they asked if I had questions I said "do yall like whiskey? Because I brought some..." (I'm sure you can guess how that went).  Whipped it out when I showed up to the social.

The way I see it, this is your shot. You can't control every aspect of how your interview and interaction with the unit will go, but you better leave as little to chance that you possibly can.

Guard and reserve guys are being told they have to move out of the dorms for the incoming academy studs. They can move to an on base house if there's availability or off base.

Wonder how this would work for married students who are getting BAH for family back at home.  We're still trying to figure out what the move is gonna be for us as a family when I go to training.

You must correctly identify line B.  Three correct answers.  Line A is there for practice only.

Wow that's it??  I was thinking that was maybe standard for enlisted aircrew or something, then D, E, F were scores for certain category of aircraft pilots.  Thanks for the quick response!

  9. Looking for a definitive answer as to what line is actually a PASS for pilots.  I've read pilots have to get D, E, or F and I've also read here more recently that the standard pass line is B.  Is B just a pass for MEPS entries and pilots have to score higher?  Headed to FC1 next week and just trying to manage my expectations.

  10. Newcomer to this thread, and almost afraid to awaken it given what I've read over the last few pages.  But before starting   a new UPT 2.5 thread, I wanted to check in here and see if anyone could pass on some relevant experience either instructing or going through the new curriculum?  Doesn't seem to be a lot of recent info on what's going on.  I will be tracking T-1's and am curious about the divestment.

  11. Wanted to get my timeline going on here.

Prior enlisted AD, current ANG with another unit hired to a tanker unit.

    Applied:  Feb 2022

Board: 5 Nov 2022 (honestly thought the board had already convened and that I never got a call back even for a TBNT)

Hired:  About 2 weeks after the interview

    FC1: 27 Feb 2023

    OTS: ???

I read on the ANG sub-reddit that OTS classes are currently booked out through FY24.  Hoping that's not true.

They typically put you in a random AFSC and you just chill for drill. Making corn, filling the bar, etc. usually the first action is to gain you prior to IFC1.

One other question for ya.  My newly hired unit keeps mentioning MEPS, although I'm already an ANG member at another unit.  Are they just using that term for FC1 or do I actually have to go through MEPS again on top of that?
