You can be stuck with RPA, CSO, or ABM if you list them on your application package. I listed pilot and CSO in the last board and got picked up for CSO. You may apply for pilot only, but your AD recruiter or interviewing officer may give you a lecture about the needs of the AF or being an officer first, aviator second. YMMV. Many applicants who listed pilot only got phone calls saying they were not selected for pilot and were offered CSO instead.

Slightly off topic question for you: As a rated CSO applying for RPA, is your PCSM still a factor? Not sure if those scores become ancient history after you get your wings.

Greetings, I'm currently looking for some insight on what the process for an AD CSO looking to be sent to UPT by a Guard or Reserve unit will look like. I understand this is a touchy subject. To my knowledge, the immediate barriers are: 1. Age requirement (waiverable) 2. Less than 5 years commissioned service requirement (unsure if waiverable) Are there any other considerations that come to mind? I'm not sure if this route is a viable option.
