Add UPS managers, etc. to the equation. How to save a Billion $ or so… May only be in the 2-3% range of the company, but 12,000 nevertheless seems like quite a bit. Several companies encouraging or offering early retirement and that normally leads to cuts shortly thereafter if numbers aren’t met. Stay frosty out there.

UPS has WAY too many managers to begin with.

Didn’t people say that when gay marriage was legalized? “Oh yea, all the E1s in the barracks are gonna ‘marry’ their buddy to get moved off base and married BAH.”

    Did that happen even once?

The few people I know with non-standard gender expressions/identities say the same thing as my gay friends: this is just how I am, it’s not some choice I decided would be cool one day, and it can be pretty hard to be accepted in a lot of places.

Probably better to just accept people how they are, treat people fairly and move on with your life. That’s my philosophy at least, even if a lot of this newfangled gender stuff the kids are going on about makes absolutely zero sense to me sometimes. #I’mOldNow

I’ll accept them and treat them with compassion just like I would anyone with a mental illness.  You cannot argue that their brains are working correctly.  Does it make them bad people? No.  Does it mean they should be completely ostracized from society? No.  What it does mean is that they should not be able to hold sensitive positions that require security clearances.  They should not be police officers, pilots or in the military….and so on. Go be a realtor, insurance agent or any one of another 1000 jobs out there.  Just like a schizophrenic wouldn’t be able to get a clearance or FC1, nor should they.

    Chief:

I can’t ever remember a time it wasn’t real. You know [inaudible] I’ve been sitting here thinking, [inaudible]. I’ve never seen a whole crew before sit down. [Inaudible]. And the bad things about it guys, this isn’t even the worst type of exercise you can ever see. [Inaudible] in 48 hours flying [inaudible] and spending the whole week and a half down there in MOPP 4, in and off the airplane. [Inaudible] in 10 degree weather — which is nothing [inaudible].

Is the time frames different from what you’re used to seeing? Yeah. It is. 48 versus 72 hours it was mentioned to me that way. It shifts. We got it in a [inaudible]. Before you got that [inaudible]. It looked like it was good, for real? That’s all the [inaudible] we had. There’s room to… you can’t ORM out. You have to walk up to the boss and say “yeah, I’m not going.”

    Did you go? Alright.

And at some point — I think that’s what-what’s going through the most [inaudible] at some point I was reading you had time Friday at the squadron yet here you are, not to let you companions, not to let the rest of your flight crew down. This is the fastest way you get out the door. You fail. We fail. So when you [inaudible] these things after years of flying experience I can tell you’ve I’ve been there, I’ve done that.

If you come in at 7 in the morning and hey, you’ve gotta be back at 7 at night, you go home… you go home and you find a way to get that little nap and whatever it is. You pack a bag, you’re good to go, whether it’s [inaudible] resting your eyes, conserving your energy, cause the next 48 hours are gonna be hell. But you find a way to get through it. Every time.

Why is the E-9 lapdog opening his mouth at all about an aircraft commamders decision?  STFU.

Thank god.  About time when you have a sitting squadron commander forcing her squadron to read “White Fragility” and openly posting Atlantic articles bashing the sitting CINC.

YGBSM.... This sounds like someone who needs to be outed.  What sq?

Hell yeah, a $160/month raise?!?!  Screw that $200,000/year airline job now!!

All sarcasm aside, its a step in the right direction but honestly a drop in the bucket, and likely the wrong bucket at that.  Let's work on decent leadership and looking out for your people.

This is not a step in the right direction. This is another attempt from the air force to get out of this jam on the cheap.  So me, as an O-4 with 10 years of aviation service, high time IP/EP.... $50 dollar a month bump?  Yeah, no I'm out.  It's really insulting actually that they tried to pass this off as a revolutionary incentive to get us to stay in.

  6. Call Maj Bartholomew at Beale: DSN 368.4447. He might have some info.

We hired a few 11F's over the last 18 months, and with the "fighter pilot shortage", that community is off limits. In the past, I've seen it die off after a few months,... but this is significantly more "robust".

Bombers: it started about 4 years ago when we tried to hire an Elsworth B-1 pilot, and got shut down. It got flag officer attention. Then we had a B-52 guy turned down by AFPC. Again, up the chain of command.

I've been out of the Recruiting side of the house the last 2 years, and am not current on the latest... but that's some history for you.

This sucks. Especially since they have no problem taking BUFF guys for RPA's. Thanks for the info.

  7. Wow everyone needs to relax. If you think I don't know much about the C-130 world yet, youre right. I absolutely dont. What I do know is that its what I dropped, so its probably not necessary to call people idiots on baseops. If you have advice (Thanks Disco_Nav) I appreciate it. If you dont, move right along. I definitely know the truly basic officership stuff you guys keep harping about (have a good attitude? be happy with what I have? No shit!). What I was asking in my original question is whether or not there are any rules for/against transferring airframes. Please read the original post before losing your collective minds. Thanks to all those that gave good advice!

This ought to go well. I'm sure you'll get the advice you seek now.
