Anybody know anyone at AETC (the training command that approves FC1s)? Or how your unit finds out that your FC1 gets stamped approved? - If I can help it I would rather not wait an extra 2 months like @Flip6 did, to find out his was approved. I had waited 3 weeks to ask the Wright/Patt crew for any kind of update and they said it had just been sent to AETC the day before I called.

I don't know anyone at AETC. I just kept bugging the coordinator that I worked with at Wright/Patt about every 2-3 weeks. I'm not sure where it was sitting for the ~2 months between when it was approved and when I got it, but they did say that if you have been gained by your unit, they will get notified. Since I'm still in the Army, that didn't happen.

  2. Another Green to Blue guy here (currently active duty rotary wing officer). So far my timeline looks like:

    AFOQT: FEB 18

    TBAS: MAR 18

    Interview/Hired: JUN 18

    DD368 Approved: SEP18

    Army Separation Packet Approved: OCT18

FC1 Scheduled Notification: OCT18 (Originally scheduled for JAN19, but they were able to get me in NOV18)

    FC1: NOV18

FC1 Stamped: JAN19 (although nobody ever notified me when it was approved, so I didn't get it until MAR19 and missed the AFRC Board)

AFRC UPT Board: Will submit in MAY 19

Separation from Army: SEP19 (Thank God!)

Since I'm already and officer and I have my PPL, I understand I will go straight UPT. I'm hoping to minimize my break in service, so do any of you see an issue with the time between the AFRC board (May19) and my separation date (late Sep19)? Ideally, I would go inprocess with the 340th the day after my separation date.

  3. @FlyArmy is right. The inter-service transfer is for people who are already qualified to perform their duties in their new branch. Since we RW guys still have to go to UPT, we have to separate entirely before swearing into the Air Force. I just dropped my UQR last week. Though I’m curious as to where you heard you can get out of your ADSO. I’m a year out from my Flight school ADSO, and aviation branch pretty much laughed in my face when I asked for an ADSO waiver even though I already got offered a job with a Reseve unit.

I would suggest focusing on getting hired first. Depending on your ADSO date, you should be able adjust your separation date to coincide with the date you are able to commission in the Air Force to avoid a break in service. I may end up eating my words, but I’ll let you know how it works out for me.

What was the reason you gave HRC and your CoC for trying to get out of your ADSO? How did you try and sell it? I'm looking to get into the Reserves for family stability.

I submitted my DD368 a month or so ago. The aviation branch chief said they are not approving any ADSO waivers for the foreseeable future. I may try again now that I got hired by a reserve unit, but I still have a little over a year left of my ADSO. I’m not holding my breath though. I heard that they have about 120 post-command aviation captain slots to fill an only about 30 available on the upcoming manning cycle.
