It's that time again .  May drill will be our next UPT board.  The rushing window is officially open - Feb 23-25 and Mar 9-11 are upcoming drill dates for visits.  April drill the squadron will be on the road shooting missiles at Tyndall so get your visits in soon.  Resumes and coordination still go to 122fspilothiring@gmail.com

    C'mon down!

EvilEagle, are you all entertaining age waivers at this time for AD or prior guys?

    Thanks!

Thanks!  Yeah I asked the lady there if it was cool if I ate a big dinner and she said the limit is "like 240 or something", but I didn't get specific because I weighed in at 170.

Hahah all good. I’m 6’4.5 and I’m close to the limit, so it’s a number I worked with when I went through flight training 7 years ago ha.

  3. I’m 33 but been in the Navy for 8 years as a naval flight officer.  However, 95% of the units ive contacted for boards coming up in the next year, said they are considering age waivers for those that exceed.  Now since I’m a prior, that may have different implications.  But the attitude I’m taking is, I’m going to make them tell me no.  I always preface my initial phone call or email with that and it has been met positively so far except for one ANG squadron. To clarify, that squadron wasn’t mean or cold about it, they simply said they weren’t entertaining waivers at this time.

So my advice, reach out, be direct, and ask the question.  Worst they can say is no.

  4. Hey everyone,  new to the forums and trying to absorb all the great information here.  I’m a current AD Navy guy trying to get into a Reserve/Guard unit.

Anyways, I looked around and couldn’t find a specific answer to my question.  Since I will Be basically shotgunning resumes and application packets to several different units over the next year, my question pertains to formatting for the LORs.

I’m in the process of gathering my letters from multiple sources, however, I am unsure of how to format and address them.  Obviously I know I need to put the specific fighter unit and/or squadron commander on it.  However, since I am using these letters to send to multiple units, what is the best way to address them or is there one?  Without having the people writing them, re-address it for each board? (Keep in mind some boards have not published their dates or POCs yet).  Will a generic “TO: (Squadron) Commander, UPT Hiring Board” Work is there a better way?

Hopefully that makes sense and my apologies if this has been asked before.
