  1. I’m highly interested in flying for the ANG; I do not care what I fly or where, I would just be grateful for a slot. I’m currently 24 and have just under 4,000 hours of flight time and work for a regional airline. I also have a high GPA (3.9) With that being said I made the stupid decision to drink and drive when I was 21. I’ve since completed probation, completed various alcohol classes and have abstained from alcohol since. I wear contacts for -2.25 astigmatism, but otherwise have healthy eyes. Is it worth it for me to begin studying and take the AFOQT? Am I better off contacting an ANG recruiter or calling each squadron separately? I appreciate all input
  2. Hello all, I'm in my last year of college and I'm looking to become a military pilot. Here's some personal information. Age: 22 I currently fly for a regional airline on the CRJ200, I have around 3,000 hours of flight time. Current GPA is 3.69. This semester I should get a 4.0 and I'm estimating I will graduate with a high 3.7. I don't care about base or aircraft assignments, and I'm interested in the guard/reserve. My only medical condition is my vision. It's currently -2.25/-2.50. Otherwise I've held a FAA 1st class medical for years. Just began studying for the AFOQT. Aiming to take it mid December early January. I have volunteer work. Clean record, not even a speeding ticket. My questions are: 1.) Am I competitive? Could too much flight time hurt my chances? 2.) What about my vision? Could I get the waiver up to 20/200 or should I consider LASIK. 3.) Is it too early to begin applying? Thanks!
  3. I know this topic has beaten to death but my vision is currently L 2.50 R -2.25 cyl in the right -0.25, all correctable to 20/20. This is from two years ago, so I'm due for a new checkup soon. Should I just get LASIK, or apply for a waiver?
