  1. Gripper's a really good shit and an excellent LGPOS pilot/patch wearer. Not sure why he did this interview with Bumiller but he's definitely not a showboat kind of guy. In fact, quite the opposite. If they were going to pick someone to be interviewed he would be the perfect choice. He's not going to say anything stupid. If you look at his quotes in the article you will see he gave them nothing.

    2. Great shit, couldn't have a better OG/CC up at 'cuse.

My point was only this - the UPT grads they are getting by and far are not "the best & brightest", but are frequently the bottom of their class. That is unfortunatley a fact that anyone who has spent time on a UPT base in the last 4 years can attest to. Someone who is flying UAVs because they sucked at UPT should admit the same.

Truth, I'll admit I was at the bottom of my Corpus class, everyone had above average NSS's and I was the lowest and got the pred. Folks in classes before me had NSS scores in the 30s and received an airplane. Luck and timing.

I ended up somewhere I never imagined and have loved it ever since. I assume the same is true of the RPA community. I assume that like AMC, there are plenty of late bloomers who didn't quite figure it out in UPT but have gained the skills to be competent and excel in the career that their efforts led them too.

I ended up somewhere I never imagined also. I may not have been the best at UPT, but I know that I am competent and doing pretty well flying this platform. Plus I get to hang out at the Nellis Club, where the real learning takes place. Overall a decent first assignment.

  2. Of late many of the pred dudes that are going to holloman to do TX-2 are pred IPs and will be going back to Holloman to be an IP. 26th wps is also has a tx-2 course that has a handful betas in the class. I foresee the large majority of Reaper dudes coming out of Holloman to not be going to the forty-deuce, but more than likely going to ellsworth. Also, 'cuse will be a full-up FTU this winter. Ellsworth will be full up come spring. If you want to go reaper make it clear to your DO that you want to go fly the reaper in squadron X, and they will do their best to help you out, especially if it is just a PCA around creech. If you have yet to start any FTU talk to someone in leadership and tell them you want to fly the reaper at ellsworth, this way you may be able to jump on the reaper train before FTU with orders to go to ellsworth when you are done. PM me if you want more info.

  3. The choice of words used to communicate certain meanings - it could be that one word is always difficult to hear over the radio, is too similar to another word which has different meaning, or just seems like an odd choice

I think examples of this you could focus on within the military side of flying is brevity terms. I.E. words like tally, contact, splash, handshake, hollow, etc. and what purposes they serve.

Brevity terms are not difficult to hear, not similar to words with different meanings, and they make sense to what they are referring to.

I would stick to language differences in the aviation community.
