  1. They were not in MWS Squadons. One single Email sent to both the member and commander in the "TO" block

    cut and pasted below:

    From: PPA-Voluntary Separation [mailto:dpsos.separations@randolph.af.mil]

    Sent: ---

To: Joe Bag o Donuts and Joes Commander

    Subject: Voluntary Separation Application Approved

This is to inform you that HQ AFPC has approved the voluntary separation application submitted by RANK JOE BAGODONUTS. See comments below:Your request to separate is approved under FY14 LADSC Waiver program" for 30 September 2014. AFPC will update your approved Date of Separation (DOS) in MILPDS within 72 hrs. After 72 hours, please proceed to the vMPF to complete the Initial Separation Briefing, the pre-separation order worksheet and the DD FM 214 worksheet. Please follow the instructions below for completion of the above items. Upon accessing the vMPF, click on the Self-Service Actions link, Separations link and then the Initial Separation Briefing link. Complete the initial separation briefing and click the OK button. Air Force policy mandates a medical examination (physical) IAW AFI 48-123, Medical Examinations and Standards, before separation or retirement when certain conditions exist. The medical facility will determine whether an examination is mandatory or optional. To avoid the possibility of medical hold, please visit the Medical Standards Management Element (MSME) section at your local medical treatment facility within 5 duty days of completing the initial separation briefing. The letter to initiate your medical clearance is located in the initial separation briefing. After completing the initial separation briefing, click the Pre-Separation Order Worksheet link and complete the worksheet. Click the Next button and proceed through the worksheet screens. After completing the worksheet, click the Submit button and the worksheet will flow to AFPC for processing. Once the worksheet is submitted, the worksheet cannot be accessed again. Separation orders cannot be processed without this worksheet being completed and submitted. Review the DD Form 214 Worksheet, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, and provide source documents of missing entries to the MPS. Separation orders will be available on vOP approximately 4-6 weeks after receipt of the completed Pre-Separation Order Worksheet. Orders are prioritized and completed based on date of separation and projected departure date. Unfortunately there is no personal e-mail notification when orders are finalized and available on vOP. It will be your responsibility to monitor vOP to receive orders. If your intent is to affiliate with the Air Force Reserve (AFRC) via Palace Front, you MUST contact your local In-Service Recruiter to initiate the SCROLL approval process. This process takes approximately 4 months to complete. You WILL have a break-in-service if you are not SCROLL approved by SECDEF to affiliate with AFRC prior to your DOS. The approved separation date WILL NOT be extended due to SCROLL delays. Thank you for your service and good luck in your future endeavors!

Careful. That email says voluntary separation approved not voluntary separation PAY approved. My email specifically said voluntary separation pay approved. Looks like the ADSC waiver approval program instead.

I do like how they have added the remarks regarding the SCROLL process. I'm finding this out the hard way and will most likely have a break in service (from AD to Reserves) as a result. For anyone interested in palace chasing or fronting to the Reserves talk to your in-service recruiter now to get the ball rolling. The Scroll process is currently bottlenecked at the approval authority taking several months.

  2. VSP approval email received from AFPC!

    No ADSC

    Applied 6 Feb.

    Best of luck to everyone!

Just curious...did you initially submit the application 9 Feb or did it get the "Referred to BPO" (or "Referred to AFPC OFF Voluntary Separation Pay") on 9 Feb? I'm trying to get a sense if the time stamp for either of the events has any effect on how fast your application gets processed. My guess is your No ADSC probably played the biggest role since you didn't have to wait for waiver table that came out last week. Congrats.

Mine was sitting at Referred to AFPC OFF Voluntary Separation Pay in CMS since 20 Feb.

  3. PSDMs 14-08 and 13-130 both refer to the Separations Program Services Delivery Guide. Does anyone know what Step 5 of 10 of the guide (pg 44) is referring to?

"Step 5 of 10 - Select the "Yes" or "No" button concerning public property/funds. Enter the grade and name of the counselor in the box provided. Utilize the pop-up calendar and select the date counseled. The date counseled must be a previous date."

What counselor? Is there a prerequisite counseling to apply for VSP?

  4. If you are TDY for 4-6 months of requal chances are you are attending a formal flying training course (AETC usually) and will incur a 3-year ADSC -

Actually it depends how far into your UPT commitment you are. An additional ADSC for requal or IP upgrade cannot exceed your original 10 yr ADSC. See AFI 36-2107 Table 1.1. Note 1b.

"b. All manned or unmanned pilots, navigators, and air battle managers who began aviation service after 30 September 1997 will not incur any additional Advanced Flying Training (AFT)/Instructor Qualification ADSCs which extend beyond 6 or 10 years as applicable, of continuous or cumulative rated service. Rated service begins at the completion of training and awarding of wings for the rated specialty. They will still incur Permanent Change of Station (PCS), Professional Military Education (PME), and other non-AFT related ADSCs."

  5. PSDM 14-08 (VSP) says 6 Feb in a couple of places. Also, what time do they start accepting applications on the 6th/7th? They took the time to define 2359 CST as the cut-off for letters to the board, but nothing for the application window.

Okay maybe this emailed copy of 13-130 I'm looking at is trash. I havent seen the released 14-08. Good point on the times too! Would be nice to know.
