"It's not T-38-y enough!" Why don't we just build some new T-38s and get it over with. Bigger wings, bigger tires, more efficient motors; whatever it takes to keep Stanley Student from killing himself. No datalinks or any of that bullshit. Then send the old ones to CAF/MAF bases for CPT programs since they're cheaper and harder to fly than every other Air Force jet. Fuel budget down, morale up, and NG gets thrown a bone.
If anyone needs to be thrown a bone it's Boeing. -
I filled out a request when I got my retirement orders. About a month prior to my retirement date they started asking if I had any corrections. 2 weeks prior I had the draft one and within 24 hours after the retirement date I had the final approved one.

There is no flight control check after EROs in the J model. It is only accomplished on initial take off or after you've shut engines down and have a subsequent take off.

If the flight doc isn't qualified to, or no other docs in your clinic or flight medicine aren't qualified to give FAA medicals, it has been my experience that they know nothing or next to nothing about the topic.Ask the flight doc. One of ours is an AME and can do class 2 & 3s.Why spend the money with them when if you are a DSG flying for the airlines you need a class 1 anyways or you get an equivalent class 3 by just having your medical?
Class 2 does almost nothing for people doing what we are doing. You don't even need a class 2 to civilian flight instruct so why bother with spending extra money for it?
I i threw out this path as an option because it is free and the OP wasn't asking about getting a FC1 for the airlines.

I believe it needs to be over 100 miles to qualify for reimbursement.

You need to have a dependent in DEERS to transfer benefits. So it doesn't seem likely.

I'd recommend going to http://www.pebforum.com. You may find some similar cases of people that have gone through the MEB process. It's had some beneficial information for me. Even if it is what questions do I need to be asking. Good luck.

A memorial will be held today (8 Oct) at 1400 central time in Abilene and live streamed by the local news station. http://m.ktxs.com/

Agree with Learjetter, I've been allergic to penicillin for 29 years (8+ in the AF) never an issue with the AF in general or my flight physical and I'm not aware of any waiver in my file for it.
Your other option may be to have the doctor approve a ground trial of the drug now. Disclaimers: I'm no medical expert and you should obviously see one prior to that choice. I've been offered a trial and have refused every time because I don't see the gain.

Agreed, reform is definitely needed. The sleep apnea 50% thing is pretty ridiculous.
50% is the magic number to receive concurrent payments from both the VA and a military retirement. Anything under 50% both sides pay but the amount paid by the VA (tax free) is subtracted from the retirement.
No doubt there are improvements to be made to the system and some level of fraud is likely to occur. Maybe the cost of catching everything means that some things slip through. Once I'm through the process and see how the exams turn into ratings I'll have a more informed opinion or I may be just as clueless as I am now. Either way, I'm being examined for all the conditions that I feel are service related and I'll let them approve or deny.
-
Robo, The two processes are similar, yet very different from what I've been told. I would not check any box without consulting with an attorney. From what I remember, there are lawyers that are paid by the VA (not you) to get you through the MEB process. It may have changed, but I'm not sure. Good luck.
Thanks. I spoke with my VA rep before completing the paperwork and both him and my PEBLO said don't check that box. Everything is supposed to be more clear once the ratings come back and we can see what the pay outs could be. It wouldn't be so confusing if not for the double negative.
-
I'm going through an MEB/IPEB and am filling out paperwork for my VA claim. Is there any reason to select the box stating "No I do not want VA compensation in lieu of military retired pay"? As i read it if I have less than 50% disability (not sure of that is via the AF or VA) all I am doing is reducing my taxable retired income by the amount the VA pays where as if it is over 50% I would receive both.

Giving females the ability to pee standing up is definitely a step in the right direction and may help level the playing field.

The Rock used to issue what I think were called Lady Js to all female aircrew for the herk since many didn't have chem toilets. Nothing odder than sitting on the ramp in Afghanistan and turning around to see your female Loadmaster standing up peeing.

Do they still require cock pushups? That's the only gender-specific exercise I can think of.

Just one, cause that's all anybody can really do.

Care to expand?
Every mention of Cobra Kai in this thread is positive.
Fixed it. My proofreading skills on a single sentence post were non existent.
Only good feedback from Cobra Kai. Probably 10 people from both our squadrons at KDYS have gone. Everybody has felt prepared for their checkrides and nothing bad to say about the DPE. The only reason people were going to Memphis was cost and a shorter course.

I hear nothing but good things about Cobra Kai in Wichita Falls.
Edited for buffoonery

Let me get this straight: you have a custom MWS watch option, but you would prefer a "custom" watch with a set of AF pilot wings?
Never thought I'd see the day where Huggy was wrong...I am mistaken.
It's a sad day in the 130 community when the bros would rather get generic pilot wings instead of wanting to keep the 70+ yr legacy alive and well.
I'm not against a Herk watch. In fact be thrilled to have one, just not that design. I wish I had the mock up still but there is no way I'd drop 3k on a Quartz powered digital/analog watch like the Breitling Aerospace.
I'd like to see the 130j watch as well. Still taking orders?
A couple weeks ago they were still looking for numbers. Ask your bros at little Rock, they should have the design.
-
Do you have pics?
I thought I still had the email but I deleted it. It was a breitling aerospace though. I'm on leave so it'll be a while before I see if anybody at work kept the design.
-
I like this design better than the C-130J breitling I've seen from the Rock recently. I'd probably be interested.

I just got an email from Downtown Aviation saying they added a Piper Twin Comanche to their fleet. It looked like they've had some MX issues with their normal plane.

It sounded like a horrible time for you and your family when AMC's roadshow was down here.
Learn the language, spend a year in Afghanistan/Pakistan a year back home where you are hoping to be picked up for school and then another year in Afghanistan/Pakistan.
I'm sure some others might have more information/practical experience. Good luck.

I haven't seen any RPA guys get anything but bombers for follow ons. I do have an MC-12 guy in my pit class getting spun up for IFF to eventually go F-16s.
I've met several that have ended up flying Herks. Some were corpus trained, some tone and a few from the 38s

I did the job fair circuit a couple times. Had a few follow up interviews and 2 that headed down the path for job offers but weren't the right fit from my side. If you are in the correct age group for the Deloitte Core Leadership Program I'd highly recommend commend applying.
Day Man is right, your best bet is to network with people in the companies you are interested in and work internal recommendations. That's how I found my position at a defense contractor. A good book on this approach is the 2-hour job search by Steve Dalton.
Feel free to PM me also if you've got other questions.
