1. JAG is spring loaded to take it to court in our current political climate. Don't know the facts of this case but I saw one go to court where the only evidence was the accusers testimony and the accusers psychologist testimony of what the accuser already said.

  2. In his boss's defense, the 11S was in a staff job and his boss was not 11S. I don't have any defense for big blue. There should have been some type of review so random luck wasn't the difference between continuation and non.

I think I know the 11H you are referring too. I wouldn't imagine he had any discriminators but I think he self eliminated from a formal training course to deal with a personal family matter. That would have generated a training report that might have been viewed negatively. Of course he could have also had a board member that overlooked he was an 11H. Again, big blue fail.

  3. Bullshit...I am/was an 11S. I had 0, I repeat, 0 negative descriminators, but was not offered continuation this year. I took the TERA...no idea why you wouldn't unless you know you definitely want to make a go of it in the reserves...

For that matter, I know an 11H who got the same deal...I don't 100% know that he had 0 negative descriminators, but I'm fairly confident that he he was issue free.

    (Edited to elaborate)

I saw the guidance the boards were suppose to use. However I do know an 11S who was going to be non-continued but was saved by a board member pointing out to his commander (also a board member) that he could be continued based on being 11S.

  4. I had a non-select counseling appointment this week. I asked some of those questions. The counselor brought a list of the non-continued officers. It was a about 5 pages long, double spaced with one name per line. Not sure why the AF doesn't publish the number but the list is internally published. The counselor said only a handful of people non-continued did not qualify for TERA. I didn't remember the complete list, just got a glance of it, but the following should have been offered continuation last year and this up coming year based on SECAF guidance: 11S, 11F, and 11H. That is based on being "fully qualified". ie no negative discriminators. Note that myPers doesn't give those details. If continuation is offered it is only to 20 years. Finally, if selected for continuation you can decline and still receive TERA if qualified.

  5. I tried some different stuff (belt, drop, shoulder) and I ended up with the horizontal Galco Miami classic shoulder holster. You can get it configured for horizontal or vertical carry. I much preferred the horizontal carry but the E-9s will be all over you. I had to defend myself on numerous occasions by saying there was an exception for aircrew (the whole unique/different/special argument that most Chiefs prefer to walk away from but still ends up raising their blood pressure). Not sure that there is but it sounded good. Doesn't seem you have that option.

  6. I had an instructor during pilot training who would deviate from the training corridor to check up on his habitually cheating wife.

Lesson learned: Park at least a block away if you are involved wife a pilot’s wife.

Pretty sure they've already got an upgrade solution out there--it's called the UH-1Y Venom. Production line is already in place and running, depot at Cherry Point already in place and goin strong. Minimal to no start up costs.

My understanding is that the Marine N models were suppose to be upgraded to Yankee models but replaced by them.

My prediction for an upgrade: Crashworthy seats for pilots and FE, NVG compatable lights added to old steam gauges, and the icing on the cake - Wolfsburg radio. 1970's aircraft, welcome to to the 1990's.

  8. Just got this email:

    Leaders;

In an effort to keep your personnel informed, I wanted to pass along the details of the FY12 Aviator Continuation Pay (ACP) which was signed by SAF/MR late Feb. I know this program is of great interest and importance to your aviators and wanted to ensure you, and your officers have full access to ACP immediately. AFPC officially opened ACP on 13 Mar and is getting positive feedback in the form of numerous applications.

FY12 added some new options and new eligible categories. There are five categories/options:

    . Initial eligible RPA/Fighter pilots (11U/11F) 5-yr @ $25K/yr (50% up front)

    . All other initial eligible pilots (11X) 5-yr @ $25K/yr

    . Initial eligible Fighter WSOs (12F) 5-yr @ $15K/yr

    . Eligible CSOs (12U RPA pilot only) 3, 4, 5-yr @ $15K/yr

    . Uncommitted eligible pilots (11X) 3, 4, 5-yr @ $15K/yr

This program targets the critical shortages in RPA and fighter career fields by incentivizing the bonus with a 50% up front option and offering to initial eligible 12Fs for the first time since FY05. This year there are 873 pilots eligible which is the first full year group with a 10 yr ADSC. The last two years have had very few eligibles (FY10 - 34, FY11 - 201), yet high take rates (FY10 - 76%, FY11 - 70%). Consequently, this year's take rate will provide significant insights into the effectiveness of the program and future health of our rated community. Please help me spread the word on this year's plan as we know many eligible officers are deployed, serving in joint assignments and may not get the word right away.
