na man it's all a numbers game. A commander has little or no say in where you fall. Just like UPT except it's way less than the 20% flight commanders ranking. I'd say it's like 10%.

Bottom line a commander can't say "he's my guy" and then have his record that's sitting in front of the other commanders say something completely different.

Or it's all just a scam to make us think it's fair haha and they just shred our docs and laugh about them at the round table.

Wow. I actually remember having your (dare I say, naive) perspective somewhere around 10 years ago.

You 'gon learn boi... you 'gon learn for sure. I just hope to god you don't figure it out the hard way.

  2. They also need to move Cyber Command out of AFSPC and make it its own MAJCOM. It is far too important to be a NAF in a MAJCOM that operates in a completely separate domain.

I actually thought the damn cyber MAJCOM thing already existed until I saw your post. Hasn't big blue been throwing around this idea since 2006? Guess that one never made it past the board meeting.

Truth to your words though. This whole cyber thing's been picking up around the globe for the last few years. Props to the good folks that play in that realm, 17D_guy et al, cuz even my dog knows I couldn't do all that gucci gee-whiz computer shit to save my life.

  3. Enjjpt is the best pilot training base there is. The foreign influence and independence makes it awesome. Great IPs, best city for fun. And you're not competing with classmates for your 38.

Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

............ and I assume you present this gracious ray of enlightenment because you've somehow had the distinct honor and privilege of being both a student AND an instructor at all four UPT bases?

    Ain't nothin' wrong with that.

As stupid as I think this duckfacing (whatever the f*ck) thing is, I give the dude props for the atmosphere he's appeared to have created in that office.

Being able to hang loose with the boss (and vice versa) is pretty damn far from what's wrong with the AF.

  5. Fellas,

It's been a turbulent March--for people and mustaches alike. I created this gem a few weeks ago when a friend of mine attending SOS confirmed that a champion of the victim culture complained about Mustache March and its inherent sexism. On behalf of all decent females in the AF, I apologize. We hate these women's studies majors just as much as you do. To all the dudes I serve with, it's been a blast being an honorary member of the boys' club.

  6. My Little Pony objections aside, the more I think about the name Pegasus, the more problems I have with it. First, what will be the plural? Pegasuses or Pegasi? They both sound ridiculous, but my guess is that Pegasi will win (although I seem to remember some AFI or AETC AFI supplement forbidding the use of Latinized plurals. That´s why AETC uses Syllabuses instead of Syllabi). Unfortunately, no matter how you pronounce Pegasi (either like Sigh or like Odyssey), someone will think you´re wrong. Go watch news broadcasts from the Gemini days. No one could agree how to say it. Yes, I know that Pegasus is from Greek mythology, so a Latin plural would be strange. However, the word Pegasus is itself a Latinized form of the Greek Πήγασος, so the Latinized plural works.

Second, they didn´t consult with any 8-year old boys. Pegasus can become Pegashit way too easy. Pegasucks is another good one. I´m sure Pegging will work itself into the name soon enough (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pegging_%28sexual_practice%29).

Third, Pegasus is the personal name of one creature, not a type of creature. Pegasus was a winged stallion, just like Snoopy is a dog. For example, it would seem strange to name an aircraft the Zeus. There are five Zeuses (Zeusi?) on the tarmac. The ETA of the six Lone Rangers is 0830. It makes no sense.

Finally, where are all the overzealous separation of Church and State folks? They should be all over the USAF for naming an aircraft after the son of a god. I´m sure they would have a problem with the KC-46 Jesus (as would I). Why not the Pegasus? Sure, there´s not a lot of people who believe in Greek gods these days, but how many does it take? If one person believes that Pegasus is the son of a god, does that make it a religion that should be separated from the State? Hell, even Jediism is on the UK´s list of official religions (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk/1589133.stm), so I´m sure there´s someone out there.

  7. Solo T-38 ride at SPS rocketed out of the top of the airspace by 6-9k feet, turned off mode C over the top. Note at ops desk upon return to go see ADO.

"Why do you think you're in my office?"

"Because Ft Worth center called you?"

"No, it was because you knocked me over as I was preflighting the jet next to you when you got stuck in the turn out of chocks and damn near went mil power to get going again. And then your crew chief called to let us know you left your probe heat on at shutdown and he burned his hand. Now, why would center be calling me?"

    EPIC!!!!!!!!!
