Is that 3-4 weeks from the board or from now? I'm assuming from the board. The guy I talked to said 2 weeks, but I've never seen results released that quickly.
The way I understood it this morning, seemed like 3-4 weeks from now. Hopefully they release it sooner though.

I just called...told 3-4 weeks before results are released. Could be just the standard answer they are giving right now though.

Looks like last years board had 43 picked up for UPT and 7 for ENJJPT...not too bad of numbers. But then again, not sure how many applicants there were.

I'm waiting to hear as well for this AD board. Check out AFI 36-2205 para 1.5. It doesn't give a time frame but it shows who it goes through. Hope this helps, good luck!

I personally think he wasn't going for hossa's head. Hossa turned in toward center ice right when Torres was coming in with his shoulder. I would understand a 5-game suspension but 25? Come on..

Torres didn't "jump" the way everyone is portraying the way he did. It's his forward momentum as he goes into the check. As you can see, he led with his shoulder and finished his check the way Rainman said. It's just because it's Hossa..

Hi. I have read other information about incentive/orientation rides on this site and elsewhere, but I'm rather confused by the varying answers. I'm definitely interested in getting an incentive ride through Air Force ROTC (who wouldn't be?), but I'm confused how, or even if, this is possible. Some people seem to say it's as easy as calling a base that has fighters and scheduling rides, while others say that you need to get papers signed and that you have to be very lucky and at the right place at the right time.
So, my question is this: is it possible for me to get an incentive ride (not surprisingly, I'd really love to get one in a fighter, but I probably shouldn't be picky) through Air Force ROTC, and if so, how would I go about it? I live in California, and the only fighter wing of which I'm aware that's in CA is the ANG unit based out of Fresno, and they only have F-16Cs. However, I'd definitely be willing to travel a ways for an opportunity to get a ride (maybe to Nellis or something?).

Yes, it is possible. However, unless your detachment already has a system in place for getting incentive rides, I wouldn't call a squadron directly. You're a cadet.

I found out this week that my EAD is 30 June 2012 out of AFROTC. My IFS date is March-April 2013 and start of UPT June 2013. Has anyone heard of such an early date to be an APT at Laughlin AFB? I'm not complaining in anyway, I think it's amazing to get started as a new butter bar before my class dates, but wondering what I might be doing during that time. Thanks for the help!
I'm going to Vance with an EAD of 16 May, IFS March 2013. I hope it doesn't change. My colonel told me they were not "placeholder dates, but actual dates". I'm pretty skeptical though.

Hey guys, I'm reading contradictory statements so I thought I'd clarify here. On the main website's Q&A they say that in order to get a pilot slot, I really should have some flight hours and that having a PPL would be ideal but even 5 or 10 is better than zero. In the forums I've read that they prefer that you have ZERO hours because this way you learn their way and don't fly the plane the civilian way. So, what's the right thing here? I'm a sophomore in college, paying for a PPL is not going to be an option, should I take 10 hours of lessons by the time I apply for OTS? How many of you had zero hours and got a slot?

Having a PPL, or at least some hours, shows that you can comprehend the information for flying. And then also, it shows that you enjoy the flying as opposed to people who get to flight training with no flying experience and who thought it would be "cool" and then deciding it just wasn't for them.

Hey guys,
I had a quick question, are we allowed to wear any ABU certified boot to FT? The boots my class were issued are extremely uncomfortable and I bought my own and was allowed to wear them throughout the year with no problems. In the FTM it just says "Boots, combat, black or sage green w/ ABUs"

I can understand where a person with high flight time believe they know all and were taught the "civilian" way, but I don't think at least having a private pilot's license would be detrimental. I have about 19 hours and hoping to finish up my PPL before the end of the year. Thank you for the responses!

Toro, I understand that having a PPL or more won't guarantee you a pilot spot, but it's just something else to put on the package that shows you want to fly. How would a good amount of flight time work against you?

It shouldn't be. I got Mono last November, worst thing in the world. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone lol. My doctor said you can feel the effects from Mono up to a year but it shouldn't hinder your flight physical.

The AF PFT is nothing to get too spun up about. I saw the suggestions involving doing hundreds upon hundreds of push-ups a week and sprinting the 1.5 and all that. Personal experience here, you always have those guys in ROTC that have to prove how awesome they are by doing 10 more pushups than requried and all that. It isn't army ROTC where your leadership abilities are proportional to your PFT scores. That being said, don't be a shitbag either. They will know if you are overachieving and will recognize it as tool-dom.
This spring was the first time in two years I didn't max the PFT, and it was missed by about 3 seconds on the run(gotta love Oklahoma wind and 3 months of lunch and backs in the T-1). To be honest, and this is no bullshit, the first time I maxed the PFT I chugged a red bull and smoked a few marlboros about an hour prior...
There is no need to be captain america and a ROTC nazi when it comes to the PFT. I run 4 miles a day, do 50 pushups in the morning, and the last time I did "crunches" was on my last PFT. That has gotten me a max or damn close to it every time. If you want to go apeshit with crossfit and all that, feel free, if you are going to do the ironman. This is the AF PFT here, most girl scouts can max it...

I got zero got'dayyum sleep last night because you don't know the difference between the AD and OTS pilot boards. Congrats though ;)
