  1. I'm a little confused as to why out of everyone in the Air Force (and, frankly, the aviation community), the -60 guys are the only folks that do not know the mission of the CV... It's had the same mission for quite a while now. Nothing has changed.

Am I missing something? Some sort of argument??

  2. I had a finely worded thesis on the community as whole in regards to AFSOC structure and its parent, USAF, prepared..... but seeing the closed eyes and covered ears of the audience... meh. I'll just go and fly.

I guess that ends my tri-annual 2 posts.

  3. Just dropped a cv-22! Super excited, are there any IPs or current pilots on here that could pm me and give me some additional info?

Yea I fly it from time to time. PM or post questions here if you'd like.

For everything else on this discussion board, I think my colleague (b64) was a little peeved about the possibility of getting a guy who wasn't really dedicated to the aircraft/mission but rather wanted to (possibly) use it as a stepping stone. This may be a super-cereal view of that guy's post, but hey, perception can become reality.

I know first-hand that this aircraft/mission can consume your life. We constantly have to re-prove the unique capabilities of the airframe to folks even though the capes have been there for years, while still being able to fly the line. As far as I can tell, this is the most misunderstood, but yet, one of the most capable birds out there. I'd like to invite any of my AFSOC compadres to make some friends in the CV community and then come over and try the sim.

Anyways-- An airplane is an airplane. Each comes with their own challenges; this plane comes with stick, rudder, power and nacelle angle ones.

  4. CVs. No we wear them often; however, AFE has a backlog order of the screw in type [at KAFB competing with every other airframe to get counterweights.]. I kinda just want to buy some so I won't ever have to where a loaner pack without one.

I honestly hate when our Darth-Vader helo helmet starts to shift forward because I don't have a CW.

  5. Some interesting info straight from the SOC commandant:

    Gents/Ladies,

Any news on this??? I'm doing my SOS correspondence right now and I heard this rumor. Personally it kinda pissed me off b/c they also sent me to ASBC a few years back. There's a lot of wasted penguins in the water. Anyone know if we should actually still complete the in-correspondence course?

    Thanks, Folks...

  6. Anybody taking bets on whats going to get cut in the upcoming years (the possible purges due to massive DoD budget cuts)? Anyone have any ideas? My hope is reflective belts, but I have a feeling it may be A/C, flying hours and maybe even pilots.

  7. I'm interested in cross-training from MC-130s to the CV-22. I know there are former -130 guys in the community and I wanted to know if they're still accepting cross-flow pilots for the Osprey.

I'm in the pipeline right now and I came from the fixed-wing side of the house. The classes behind me nearly always have transition pilots in them. I don't know the technical Air Force answer, but I think it's safe to say yes. If you have any questions ask away.

  8. Not to mention Tyndall just outside Panama City Beach, home of 8,247,869 hot drunk college chicks (and a few skanks) on spring break every year.

Other than that, since Clark and all the hot spots in Thailand are closed and never to reopen, I say Korea and Osan over the Kun if you can work it.

Once again, nothing compared to good ole Cannon! Home of 17 hot drunk (ENMU) college chicks (and 16 skanks) on spring break (somewhere else) every year.

  9. I'll add my $0.02.

This was a great school (I went 8 years ago and I'm sure it's different). It was the only school that had an honest to god 'bullsh!t' flag in the corner that if you raised it, the topic was over... period. BTW- That sucker went straight up when the instructor began to discuss the details of an ALTRV! It was beautiful.

Some say it helps to have it on your resume for an airline job. Not sure about that but if you're a reservist, it's good for mandays as you need time to prepare for the IRC as well as conduct it.

This and AMIC are the best two courses I've taken so far. All you do in it is talk about flying.

dont know what i stumbled on, but i guess the FAA posts a lot of the PPT presentations from AIC.

    Vance to Garden City, KS

Garden City to Denver, CO (sleep)

    Denver to Grand Junction, CO

    Grand Junction to ABQ (sleep)

    ABQ to AMA

    AMA to Vance

It should turn out to be a good time. Still looking for a good O&B though...They won't let us fly into Lubbock anymore due to a large amount of geese.

Well thank god we have this newfangled NACWS thing thatll help us avoid geese.... shit.
