  1. It's not that the Hollywood dudes changed things, the crew is alleging that the Phillip's book, which is what the movie is based on, was not a true account of what happened.

What do you know...Hollywood types change the true story to make their film look better--say it isn't so!!

All I have to say in regards to being a civilian crew member in international waters (especially where pirates are known to be) and being unarmed--fvck that! I could care less what the statistics show in terms of actually being killed--I don't want my life riding on the mercy of an asshole pirate.

  2. There's a disclaimer at the end that says they use a lot of recreations, etc for "safety" reasons. They showed a guy taking off the other day with no radios, no runway lights and allegedly barely any fuel.

  3. Here is another serious question:

How do you work out the logistics of where they sleep/shower on deployments and tdys?

This has already been happening for as long as there has been a military, and its been working out ok so far. I wouldn't sweat it.

  4. There were two low flying jets near me yesterday (I didn't see it personally). Possibly related to today's Army/Navy game (I'm near Philly). Practice maybe? A lot of people I know were talking about it on Facebook. Not one person complained, everyone thought it was awesome.

  5. I'm not a lawyer, nor did I sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night... hence my use of the word "probably".

Concur 100%, and is why I stand by my statement, regardless of the legality of the act.

No problem, we're on the same page. I was just commenting on that one part of your statement. I realize you weren't stating a fact. My family is in the funeral home/cemetery/crematory business, and I've worked at all three at one time or another, helping out.

  6. - Because it is a slap in the face of all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of our nation.

    - Because putting human remains in a dumpster is ######ing wrong (and probably illegal if the first Google hit for "abuse of a corpse" is any indication).

Are you really this clueless, or are you just trolling in a particularly vile manner?

I really hope you're trolling - I don't like to think that one of my brothers-in-arms wouldn't have a problem with dumping the remains of a fellow American in a ######ing dumpster.

Not defending what was done here (there's no defense), but FWIW, cremated remains (cremains) aren't considered human remains anymore (legally speaking). That's why you can scatter them, keep them in your home, basically handle them however you feel is appropriate. So there's no abuse of corpse violations here.

Morally and ethically speaking, of course, is a completely different story. This boggles the mind. It reminds me of the movie Taking Chance and how they praised the work that is done at Dover (Which, to be fair, is probably the case with 99% of what goes on there, its done well and dignified). How can a place that is supposed to take such pride in honoring our war dead, allow something like this to happen.

  7. Thought I'd bring this up here after doing my research online. I got my motorcycle used about 14 months ago, my first bike. It's a V-Star 650. It came in pretty good shape with some nice and noisy cobra pipes that I've since mucked up pretty good. I've melted my riding pants on it (100% PU Coated Nylon) as well as bits of skin and the sole of my shoes, black stuff near the ends which I assume is exhaust residue and brake dust? A little rust thrown in here and there as well. Also it has some yellowish discoloration near where it's mounted to the engine. I've tried a few household things to clean it up but nothing is working so far. I'm just looking for some suggestions to get it cleaned up pretty good. I found S100 online and it seems to be a good product. What do you guys think?

For boot scuffs and such, warm the pipes up a bit, and use some very very fine steel wool. It should take it right off without scratching.

I used to have a v-star 1100. Sold it to buy a 2006 Harley Davidson Screaming Eagle Ultra Classic Electra Glide.

  8. As cool as that would be, no. The former A-10 driver, along with pretty much every other military person on set, appears to be actors.

Edit: The A-10 pilots character's name is Tom Garrett.

    Just saw it. Wow.

The former A-10 pilot is Gordon Clapp, he played Medavoy on NYPD Blue.

  9. Dubya could laugh at himself. It appears Obama can't. Might be an interesting four years.

Obama wasn't avoiding laughing at himself. Biden's joke wasn't at Obama's expense. Obama was avoiding publicly making fun of the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Obama very well may not have a self-deprecating sense of humor, but this wasn't a display of that.

Agree with him or not, Obama is shrewd. You don't get to that position without being pretty smart.
