365 to 120 days out. I'd err closer to 365 to minimize 1 year deployment buffoonery. The MyPers approval took about 3 weeks, so don't believe the timelines on the website.
365 from your official retirement date or is it 365 days from your last day of work (accounting for terminal, PTDY, etc.)?

Starts early. I'm 8 years old, just attended my first airshow and I'm bitter AF.

I didn't understand it either until I tried to get a new driver's license in Texas after living overseas for several years. Showing up with all my forms filled out, all the ID requirements from the website (including my military ID), and getting turned away because my military ID doesn't have my SSN on it (Wtf). It ended up taking 3 half days off work to get a driver's license (first day at the DPS, next day at the social security administration, third day back at the DPS.) If I couldn't afford those lost wages or if I would lose my job for missing that much work, I just wouldn't have an eligible voter ID.
Obviously you only accept sources that reinforce your world view, and I'm wasting my time providing a personal anecdotal counter example, but whatever.
Here's a 17 minute podcast that goes through a methodology of voter fraud claims.

They use math as their source though, so not sure it it's something you are going to believe.
Weird, I brought all the required paperwork listed on their website and walked out with a new drivers license in about 35 min.

My OPR closed out in Dec. “2/10 Maj’s in YG” WG/CC. 1/3 in YG OG/CC.
PRF result: 4/13 I/APZ... if I had one more DP to give...
It’s going to be a long six months. Especially with cyber bros having billions of dollars in impact.
Timing is everything. I’ve never been good at that. You got the silver bullet...you'll get promoted.

I agree with matmacwc's sentiment above. However, we did buy our "dream home" in the city we want to retire (while on AD) almost a decade ago and it turned out to be one of the best financial decisions we've made. It's brought in a stead rental income with good tenants and has almost doubled in value. It would be difficult for us to afford a house in the same neighborhood now. YMMV.

I was willing to trade my mom to the taliban for a chance to fly fighters.

IMHO you’re putting a ton of bias into this assessment of the situation. And I keep up with Fox News somewhat, so I’m aware of the stories they are featuring. Just realize that this is one particular narrative of a process that is largely opaque by design and not necessarily the facts.
So long story short to answer your question: no.
What I fear at this point is that Mueller will release the results of his investigation and only ~45% of people will believe him depending on what he says. I would imagine that given one of the possible outcomes, you’re fully prepared to join the non-believers.
10% of that fear is that Mueller will clear the President of any wrongdoing (even though several of his associates have already plead guilty to various crimes), and liberals won’t believe it and will want POTUS strung up from the nearest tree anyways, which will put the country in a bad place. I am not one of those people but I know some.
90% of that fear is that Mueller will bring damning evidence along with charges and the right wing won’t believe him, the GOP Congress won’t back him, and he’ll be fired which will put the country in a very bad place.
I believe in Mueller’s integrity based on his incredibly sterling reputation as a long-serving, non-partisan public servant and law enforcement official. I plan to believe the results of his investigation no matter the outcome (within reason, it’s not blind faith obviously).
I hope most folks out there can commit to the same so we can, as a nation, once again at least start to have a conversation based on a shared set of facts and values. This is an important test for whether or not that kind of shared worldview is even possible anymore, and unfortunately I’m not optimistic.
The entire Russia collusion narrative has shown itself to be another corrupt clinton political operation. Not surprised that die-hard statist are still all in, it's all they have.

So we should bring highly educated, highly skilled people over to compete with established American citizens for high paying jobs, but god damn, no fucking way are we letting those Haitians come over and nab that taxi driving gig that soooo many Americans have been dreaming of for years???? Really? Give me a fucking break.
We have 10s of millions of unassimilated 3rd world immigrants here now. Do you think there should be any limits?

Y’all rationalizing POTUS saying certain (overwhelmingly black) countries are “shithole countries” and certain (overwhelmingly white) countries have more desirable potential immigrants is pretty sad. No one is arguing that Haiti is nicer than Norway, it’s pretty clear that it’s not; that’s not the point.
But have some damn decency Mr. President. You’re the POTUS and you speak for us and your words matter. You simply cannot talk like this.
The story of America is not that we built some modern-day Elysium by only letting in the “right” people with the “best” backgrounds. Far from it, and almost exactly the opposite in fact. Raise your hand if your ancestors immigrated here from a country that used to be considered not so great...my hand is raised.

"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
The inscription predates our modern welfare state and 20T national debt.

My ops group has stiff-armed the majority of bullshit additional duties out there. The officers are all concentrated on primarily mission-related duties as well as flying. There is so much (worthwhile) work to be done to improve our platform and way of doing business. We couldn't afford to have a "flying-only" guy that doesn't help out with that.
Pilots don't just pilot. Flying a plane is hard, but regular Joes can be taught. Learning all the technical shit is doable. Handling EPs is tougher. Formation is tougher. Doing all that in a jet is tougher. Doing that in the middle of the Pacific is tougher. Being responsible for multiple aircraft doing so is tougher. Add in weather. Add in GBAD and air threats and their intent to employ against you. Oh yeah, employment, that's why we're here. What, where, why, when and how will we use the thing? Meld that with everybody else's plan in real time. Who figures all that out and takes the responsibility for doing so? Who figures out how we're going to do that tomorrow and in ten years? The pilots (and navs). It sure isn't some mystical puppet master, and if it is, he's a pilot.
So yeah, I want somebody with the ability to graduate fucking college first.
Shack. And as has been stated, the AF already has several E to pilot programs. I ops tested the two-year ROTC program 17 years ago and it worked great, I've been flying fighters ever since. If you're an E who thinks he's got what it takes GO DO IT!

Apparently they are shut down due to an issue w/ the IRS. We received a base wide email a couple weeks back that said to pick up any outstanding orders ASAP. They have been closed for the past week or so.

As a >12 <14 yr guy i'm not upset about earning an extra $350/mo, $4,200/yr. Add that to O5 promo next year and the bonus and I'll be right about $150k/yr. It's not airline bucks but it's definitely enough to have plenty of extracurricular activities and keep the family comfortable. And with the 11F shortage making O5 and flying an entire career is now a thing. Get rid of meaningless 365s/179s and staying to 20 looks pretty good from my vantage point. YMMV.

Not arguing in favor or against, but the second order effects may be worth considering. Many, maybe most New recruits as of right now have social views that don't resonate with a lot of the old heads. By excluding this group, the DOD may be inadvertently sending the message that it is a backwards organization and one to be avoided by these youngsters. We already have a major disconnect where huge segments of society cannot or will not relate to military service. One of my concerns is that we are shutting the door not just on the transgender community, but on a whole bunch of forward thinking millennials that we probably want to keep in the recruiting pool.
I'm good with no "forward thinking millennials."

Not to lecture, but we all knew the risks when we signed/passed on the AD bonus. What did you think was gonna happen? A long track record of AD bending people over and all of a sudden they change their act?
100% valid. And just to be clear, life is good in my corner of the AF and I fully intend to serve out my ADSC, possibly even longer. The issue is aging parents and in-laws. They are holding up ok now, but it's clear that they will need additional assistance before too long. I suppose that's pretty standard for most folks at this point.
-
Asking for a friend... Let's say you're an O5 with 20 years of service and you'd like to retire but you have another 18 months ADSC for the bonus. Can you drop paperwork, pay back the unused portion of the bonus and retire? I know a couple bros got out of about 6 months of a PCS ADSC but I haven't seen anyone press-to-test the bonus ADSC yet. Just thought I'd ask all you barracks lawyers out there if there are any special considerations once you are retirement eligible that I'm not aware of.

Lots of highs and lows over the past 17 years but overall I consider myself for fortunate to serve. Most of my peers, those who punched to the airlines or those who stayed, are doing as well or better than my civilian buddies from college. Lots of valid sport bitching on this site but it doesn't change the fact that you'll get to do amazing things and serve with great Americans who will be life-long friends. If I could go back in time I would absolutely do it again.

Not hard at all. Inside tip, when writing your cover letter... always mention Rep. Martha McSally and say that she's someone you look up to. She's HUGE in the A-10 world.
Your Martha dis is 10 years+ outdated. Everyone I know who actually worked for she says she was great. And considering she payed a big part in saving the Hog I'd say her rep in the community is just fine these days.
