  1. I did previously have LASIK, but they said that all looked fine. I have no history of eye injury. The specialist I went and saw told me that it was just a scar (.5mm) that was caused most likely by contact wear when I was younger. I sent the documents I received saying that it was just a scar up to wright patt and I called to confirm that they received it. I tried calling to talk to the optometrist, but apparently she is gone for the whole week. They said that if it was just a scar that it shouldn't be an issue. Apparently you don't even need a waiver for a scar on your eye. It doesn't affect my vision at all either. I passed every test up there with no problems at all.

  2. Hello everyone, I recently went to Wright Patt and when I was up there they didn't know what was on my cornea. They wanted to make sure it wasn't something that would get bigger. They told me to go to a specialist, which I did the Monday after getting back home. The specialist said that it is just a scar on my eye. So I faxed the paperwork up there saying that it's just a scar on my eye and I think nothing more of it because the specialist was 100% positive it was just a scar. Then I get called in by my commander and I'm told that I'm still DQed and now I'm reclassified into a different job. When I was up there the optometrist said that it wouldn't be a big deal and at a maximum I'd have to get it rechecked in 3 months, but now they're telling me I'll have to get it rechecked in 6 months to be qualified and I don't have my pilot slot, even though I went to a specialist and they said there's nothing wrong with my eye. I'm trying to figure out what else I can do and if it's even possible to get my pilot slot back (I'm an ROTC cadet and I'm graduating May 17). I've been looking everywhere for information and all I've been told is that I'll be able to apply on active duty for a pilot slot, but I shouldn't have to even do that because my eye is fine. I was also told that a waiver process should have been started for me or something and that definitely didn't happen.

  3. Haha no. You either misunderstood them or they are just incorrect.

When you fill out the 215, you can check UPT, CSO, RPA, or ABM. You have the option to check as many or few as you want. So a non rated guy might check UPT and CSO (or all 4 if they just wanted some sort of wings). A current CSO would probably only check UPT.

I just got a pilot slot from AFROTC last year and we had to apply for all of them. We preferenced them from 1 to 4, but we couldn't leave them blank. The last board might have been a little different, but the board before that you couldn't not apply for all of the rated jobs.

  4. Hey everyone, so I fractured two bones in my hand today and the doctor said it'll probably take 6-8 weeks to heal and my flight physical is on March 9th. I'm pretty sure I have to move it to a later date, or can I go with a cast? I'm just a little worried this might affect me more than I would like. I tried searching, but couldn't find anything on this.

  5. I wasn't talking to Butters, but even if it was a joke I was being serious. I've seen more than one cadet get removed for having a GPA below a 2.5. Depending on the Det cadre might have varying levels of strictness on the standard but in general if your GPA is below that number you can't compete for FT and therefore cannot stay in the program. And even if someone did manage to get barely above a 2.5 theres no way they're getting an EA. It sucks for us cadets that the AF is trying to cut down on officers right now, but I guess thats the way things are.. timing is everything right?

    Edit: Can't spell good

That makes more sense. I agree with what you said about your GPA though. I know a few people that have dropped out because of grades and a low GPA isn't going to get you an EA.
