  1. Huggy, I've enjoyed reading your posts for the last 10+ years and I can't say I know exactly what your career has entailed, but I'm pretty sure it is a bit different than most dudes who have joined in the last 15 years. It only makes sense that your outlook from the U-2 and the T-38 is different. "service to the country" and sacrifice is in the eye of the beholder, and some continue to value that more than other things, and thus choose to stay. Unfortunately, what joe1234 said is what the air force and the airlines have provided us, a decision that is becoming easier and easier to make with our feet.

Letter to the IPZ board requesting to be passed over OPS CHECKS GOOD!

Passed over with a requested P from my WG/CC. (Originally #3 push w/DP before meeting)

Some of my strats to give hope that others can escape:

    2 DGs
    #1 Sq CGO Strats (multiple)
#2 and 3 Gp CGO Strats
    #1 Aircraft Commander Strat (Sq)
#1 and 2 IP Strats (Sq)
    WIC/Phoenix Push on OPR
    CCE (Sq)
    ADO (Sq)
    Chief (Sq)
    Flt/CC

I used to care about the game, but all the above is worthless to me so I truly hope it doesn't come across as bragging.

Was a little worried that my record would push me into the top 93.5% but luckily I found myself in the bottom.

BLAH BLAH BLAH look at me i'm a douche.

No one cares about how much of a big deal you think you are duck, but keep posting away with your wealth of GK

  3. Well, they did a study...

    http://www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/research_reports/RR1400/RR1455/RAND_RR1455.pdf

"Overall, ...... we found evidence to support an increase in the ARP cap from the current $25,000 per year to $48,500 per year, a 94-percent increase, with a large range, from $38,500 to $62,500, to cover net increases in civilian pilot pay from 9 to 14 percent and an increase in major airline hiring to 3,800 pilots per year (corresponding to a probability of being hired of 70 percent). "

  4. News from Little Rock...

Leaving out a lot of the deets but just found out that a new co-pirate in the sq (a few weeks out of the school house) put 17's to SC 1st on his ADP along with a few other Herk options. Scheduled an apt with the Sq CC and was offered 17's to SC with training starting this summer.

Sounds like AMC is going to make these kind of moves more common as they're forced to put these guys somewhere other than the legacy.

    Timing is....

  5. Thanks for the inputs. We don't have any kids so school district location is not a big factor. I know it might help in resale but we're open to other nice areas.

After searching a few of the websites it seems like homes are a little overpriced for the region. Maybe I shouldn't be comparing but the quality to price aren't really matching up.

All that said, I would really like to buy again, so if anyone has a realtor they'd like to recommend it would be much appreciated!

  6. Quick Q: is the fly pay taxed (and what other bonus/incentive is.. bah,bas..)? if yes, i understand the advice to invest it in tsp. if no, shouldn't we be taking our tsp allocation from our base pay to lower our monthly taxable income?

ClearedHot - how are you able to call it quits in three years? INSTRUCT ME

  7. I put 8% into the Lifecycle 2040 and am really happy with it so far. It's taken out before anything and there are no worries about moving the money around to differentr funds as the fund it self reacts to your predicted retirement. Pretty sure the Air Force doesnt deal with TSP, another upside to it.

  8. Are you ROTC? Man that sucks - I know they did that delayed EAD back in the 90s but didn't realize they started it back up.

With that long until UPT it might be a possibility, it doesn't hurt to look into it if that's what you decide you want to do. I'd talk to your Det CC, and talk to the guys at AFPC that oversee the process.

Yup, I'm a cadidiot. The delayed entry has it's pros & cons, mostly cons but it just gives me more time to fvck around sts.

    I'll check into it, thanks.

  9. Zero. If you're commissioning next week, then you're locked in. When my buddy got picked up for CRO, he went to Phase II the spring of his junior year - it's a pretty long application process.

Once on AD, you may be able to put a package in before UPT if your CC will let you, and depending on how long you're on casual.

I dont EAD til 1 Dec then hit Vance in Aug '08. Should I go to my CC or try contacting someone up at Fairchild?

  10. Talk to your cadre and tell them you want to put in for either CRO or STO (the officer jobs for PJ and Combat Controller). They'll send a package in for you and if you get accepted after going through the hoops (CC nomination, PFT etc) you move on to phase II which is around a week at Fairchild or Hurlburt (during junior/senior year). If you pass and they want you to come back enter the pipeline after commissioning.

Thanks, I'll go in and talk with my cadre. What is my chance of getting accepted and jumpin the hoops if I'm commissioning next week?

  11. Are coming enlisted or officer PJ? If you're in ROTC, don't forget you can still accept a pilot slot and go to phase II to see how it works out. It's nice to have in your back pocket if you don't cut it or decide it's not for you.

What are the details for this? I have my slot, but have been greatly contemplating the move over to CRO or PJ.
