  1. Any upcoming capability for multiple destination TDYs? It looked like it only supported a single stop TDY; makes the app usable for heavy transport aircraft that typically RON @ multiple destinations in a given TDY.

    Also in the next edition... sorry to say the first version was designed by fighter dudes who very rarely do double AFTPs or multi-location TDYs.  But we've had tremendous feedback across the guard and reserve and both of those functions, as well as RMPs, MAN and RPA days and Title 10 tracking will be out in v3.0 near thanksgiving.

  2. Downloaded the app today, so still learning it. Does it have the ability to set 72AFTPs for us Navy bubbas?

    There is no hard limit for events- when you hit 48 UTAs the summary page shows a red number and you get a one-time pop-up.  Coming in the next version- the ability to log double AFTPs instead of having to log period 1 then go back and log period 2.

  3. With all of the: "do more with less" which gave rise to DTS and AROWS... a friend and I came up with a new mobile app to take some of the suck out of tracking your pay.  It's called "MilPay Tracker" and it’s currently available FREE for iOS and Android (see links below).  

     

    Security: It was first on our minds too- that's why there is no signup required, no user accounts and no central data server.  All data is pushed one way via the app store and the events you log are stored locally on your device.  We don't ask for ANY PII and don't want to know who/where you are.  

    TDY Tracker: The app has CONUS/OCONUS lodging and perdiem tables for the entire world- and it works off grid.  The expense tracker lets you take pictures of receipts and the DTS assistant exports a single PDF to your email with all receipts and the amounts broken down by GTC/Personal. It even has some tips/reminders for commonly forgotten expenses.

     

    Guard/Reserve: Log your UTAs, AFTPs and AT days as you go, then set them as paid when the LES goes through. Also tracks your tax-deductible expenses for year-end tax returns. Export functionality allows you to send all of your data to email as an excel spreadsheet sorted by event type and date.  Free text fields in the app let you capture specific data on your training requirements.

     

    Pay Tables: Includes all pay and BAH tables, perdiem and lodging rates.  All of milpay in one, secure, free, standalone app.

  4. I am talking about malignant leaders that are rewarded for creating caustic environments. There are Category Five leaders that sweep an organization clean of any motivation and leave a trail of devastation. Somehow they have been rewarded for this destructive form of leadership rather than be held accountable, because those above refuse to listen or take any action.

    We have so much potential, it is sad to see it squandered.

    Wading through this right now... some of the best pilots/bros I have ever known are running out the door and the upper management doesn't give 2 sh*ts. Sad, really.

    Yes, there are. Fewer UPT slots, a 10-year AD committment slump, and NGB turning off all TX courses means the young side of the house is very empty. I went AGR to AGR as an inexperienced 1LT, and the guard picked up the PCS tab. Again, I'm only conveying my experience, which has been great thus far. Even if I had to go to being a TR I would have gladly taken it (sts) as oppsoed to converting to the pred.

    The bigger issue in question here isn't emplyment status.... the question is: "Do you want to be a fighter pilot or not? Do you want it enough to be a TR guy and work outside of the guard if we can't keep you on full time?" Staying AGR is just gravy- you're staring at a guaranteed single-seat cockpit and "shift" was asking the wrong questions IMHO. So why don't you have a scotch and chill out a bit?

  6. I haven't posted on this forum since I got my ANG fighter slot 6 years ago- but I felt compelled to throw in my $.02 here.

    I originally agreed with B-O about his comment "You will either sell your mother to be a fighter pilot or you wont" and when I got the phone call at work that I had a slot (sts) my very next call was to my boss to say "Thanks for everything- I'm outta here" And my initial thought was: If you're the type of of person who is asking about deployments etc. before making the decision then chances are you're going to mentally fold up somewhere between IFF and B-course. Because you have to want it... bad enough to sacrifice more than just a few months in the sand box. Long days, studying in the vault, endless queep, checkrides etc.

    So, here are my last 2 years of experience being a MR fighter dude in the guard. I have loved it. I have had AGR employment the whole time without having to worry about an MC-12 tour,being an ALO, or TAMI 21. I also haven't had to worry about PCSing every 3 years and keeping my flying billet. I didn't have to worry about what airplane was up on the screen behind me at assignment night. I've had the benefit of MQT and FLUG with highly experienced 2-3000 hour IPs who have been in the jet for 20 years. I've been to the AOR twice, for about 3 months each time. Do you have to go to the AOR as a guardsman? No... but if you dont want to put bombs on target, why are you signing up? Loops to music? Could my base get BRAC'd tomorrow? Sure could- but as a young MR fighter pilot you are in demand and getting a job at a different unit is easily doable. If not- you're back on the street where you are now but with a nice bit of experience for your resume.

    So really the only question is: Do you want to be a warrior? Do you want to fly, fight and WIN or just fly? Do you want to be in an elite fraternity of pilots with a common bond that spans generations? Are you willing to sacrifice more than just 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks in the summer?

    Think about it... hope that helps.

  7. Keep in mind- the critical part of standup is the fear. If you just stroll up to the podium and don't give a crap because, "hey, I paid to be here" then its not nearly as effective as a young Lt who is going to get yelled at and grounded first go for f*cking up the boldface.

  8. Can't comment on other UPT bases but if you're going from CBM the OG forbids you from staying in El Paso that night unless your flight is before 7AM or some crap like that. Regardless, take the rental car an hour up the road to rodiso/tuliroso area, its really nice in the mountains. There's a decent steakhouse called "cattle baron's" up there with a good salad bar and an awesome prime rib. You'll go right passed the casino- looked a little shady but could be fun.

  9. How much equipment does it take to move 2,500lbs? I would say if it cost $500 more than you received as a DITY Incentive, then it was way too expensive and not worth doing it yourself. DLA is to cover those extraordinary costs related to a PCS move. You "get what you get" on a DITY move--95% of what if would have cost the government. I guess the way around this is to have the Govt arrange it all...no work for you or out of pocket $$.

    The DITY incentive covered the Uhaul and about 50% of the gas... But since gas is $4 a gallon and TMO wont cover sales tax etc. I'm out $469

  11. I saw someone posted in this thread earlier about PT white socks may not be ankle socks. Does that mean they need to be the high socks or what? It does not specify on the AMS clothing list, so I guess it might not really matter but if someone knows for sure that would be great. Thanks.

    Yeah, you're supposed to look gay. But at least you'll all look gay together. I noticed people had other than white tighty-whities and no one seemed to care. If you go strictly by the list then you can't be faulted. Ask yourself if it is really worth the risk. I just bit the bullet and wore white boxers for 6 weeks- it won't kill you.

    Air Education and Training Command Public Affairs

    5/6/2008 - RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Air Education and Training Command announced this afternoon that its T-38 aircraft are cleared to resume flying operations Wednesday.

    Gen. William R. Looney III, AETC commander, lifted the stand down of the command's T-38s that had been in place since Friday, following a fatal crash Thursday at Sheppard AFB, Texas. The crash was the second in eight days involving a T-38.

    Initial information indicates that the crashes were not related.

    The command's T-38 fleet will return to normal operations over the next several days as individual aircraft are cleared for flight.

    I'm with you on this one. Especially in AETC where you can't tell if that 1LT is really some douchebag FAIP who's pissed at the world. Going in and out of the OG building for sims every day (guess where I am) you see the new casuals or UPT studs who just got there and I, as a 2Lt, have been saluted by a nervous casual 2Lt or two. I return the favor and don't make a big deal out of it because in the end it is just a respectful way of saying hello.

    Enough of that, my real point is... where does it end? Should 1LTs not salute Captains? There was a dude a few classes ahead of me who was an O-3 and laughed every time some 2LT saluted him around base... discuss.
