  1. As I have stated earlier in this thread my bestfriend was the other pilot with Wizz that day. Well, he continues to fight his battle and heal alittle more each day. He has a long road ahead of him, but his amazingly strong wife and family are giving him the incredible strength to get better.

I still think about those guys everyday and since that day I wear a PEDRO 66 match as my own private memorial to them and the sacrafic that they made.

To those that passed and those that heal from PEDRO 66 :beer::beer::flag_waving:

  2. My best friend and best man in my wedding was on that helo... I won't go into anymore details obviously... My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family, and hope he makes a speedy recovery. Godspeed to his fallen brothers.

I never felt so helpless, and as I sit in my non-disclosed location in SW Asia, I have never felt so close yet so far away.

  3. Are you going to be with the active duty associate unit at Pease?

    1. No, not typically at a guard base do they have those. Mostly since the majority of the members are part timers.

    2. Never heard of extra allowances either, but could be. Was it a guard guy that told him?

    3. Like Bergman said most people don't even know guard bases exist. My unit is forever getting mistaken for the reserve unit across the ramp because they have more of a visible presence then we do.

    4. I am pretty sure that nobody knows for sure what is exactly going to happen with these associate units. No offense but I am kinda glad you aren't coming to my unit. I hope things go well for you guys.

  4. At least you didn't get a letter from Finance saying that you

owed $3,500 from a travel voucher that was reconciled from 2004.

    I retired in Mar...

I'm going with "No" on that.

    :flipoff:

I got one for 8800 that I owe!

I was thinking about telling them that I only write checks on the third tuesday of the month. And then when that day comes, I'll tell them I was closed for training and that my checkbook was on leave so they are going to have to wait until next month.

  5. If you already paid all that freaking money for the mess dress, why would you want to pay more to rent the damn tux?

We wore ours in my buddies wedding, and everyone got us drinks the whole weekend. I didn't pay for shit!

Besides that, it gave the wedding a different feeling with us being in mess dress. It was pretty cool.

  6. When I was in college in FL, my parents had a vacation place that they would come down and visit. In the same little community was a little old feller who would walk around. One day my dad was out walking his dog and happened to walk by this man. It turned out this guy was one of the flying tigers, and they talked about airplanes and his days in the tigers for hours. Man I can't remember his name, but it was cool. I guess they had some wild times over there.

  7. Yeah. You get yelled at for not wearing a reflective belt or not tucking in your PT uniform shirt.

You get in trouble for making a video about Gold Bond Powder.

You get in trouble for putting a cadet back in his place via e-mail.

You need a liberty card to get through the gate at Kadena.

    0-0-1-3, nuff said.

We just had hours of sexual assault prevention training, human trafficking, filing paperwork, fire extinguisher training, etc. Sometimes, we don't even get to talk about flying jets.

There's a base in the AOR, where dudes under 24 can't drive without a "wingman" or some shit like that.

Oh, but posing naked? Sure, that's fine. Nobody will have a problem with that. Good thinking, Manhart. I can't wait to get my "Don't pose naked in Playboy" briefing.

(On a personal note, I like the pics. A lot.)

This brings up a question I have had for sometime. Why are we allowing these shoe clerks to take over our Air Force. I think there are more of us than them so why don't we take it back and stop standing for this sh!t! Are we ever gonna say enough is enough?
  8. Parking tickets??? Guys come on... you guys need to be more concerned with not being a douche-bag than parking tickets. Speeding tickets are different, but parking tickets, please tell me you are kidding. I cant even tell you how many parking tickets I have received over the years, and guess what I fly in the USAF. Lighten up if you act like that at UPT you are gonna get eaten alive. geez
