  1. Actual LRE FTU IP here. . this is not the case. They're sent to the us for training as soon as possible, or as convenient, or if leadership doesn't want to see your face. . almost universally never because the student is appropriately experienced. And very few maintain their qualification when they return. Which is an incredible waste of time and money.

So CCs like to send them after they've built some experience (normally a minimum of a few hundred flight hours).

  2. My squadron is compiling a list of people interested in extending past 29 Sep to Feb-Mar timeframe. My CC is not sure where the request is coming from, obviously above him. I am at Randolph in a PIT squadron.

Anymore folliow up to this? My CC would absolutely support me delaying my separation as we will be crushed with the VSP departures.

  3. They'll let you sign up for more than one applied course at a time. Hell, I'm currently enrolled in 3 applied courses right now (all of which start in Dec). At first I was pissed, then I called and complained that I was going to be deployed, blah blah blah. . POOF, enrollment for 3 of 4 right there, with the assumption that I"ll have the prereqs done prior to start.

    The National Security one sucked.

  4. The lodging reg AFI 34-246 says:

Table 1.1. Minimum Space and Privacy Standards (for existing inventory only)

All Commissioned and Warrant Officers; All Civilians - 250 square feet (net) living area: private room, private bath (Note 2)

Which is only a requirement for what DOD Lodging facilities must PROVIDE. Does not apply to what a CC can order for his TDY personnel.

  5. Just curious, is there anyone here that is unconditionally leaving AD at the first available opportunity?

Yes. I'm out at the first opportunity. Which is in 2 years, assuming I can have 6 months waived on a Palace Chase app.

  6. Speaking of bourbon, I'm about to drop 120$ on some pappy van winkle 20 year based on word of mouth alone. Anyone actually tried it? I'm not normally into aged bourbon but I have some Jefferson 18 year which is amazing so I know it's possible to have an older bourbon without the tannins destroying the flavor.

Yes. It is an incredible bourbon. Whatever they did to age it properly worked.

  7. "In a recent survey, the Air Force asked 500 airmen who started out as pilots but had been shifted to drones if they would like to stay on in the unmanned aircraft field. There were 412 volunteers."

I think that is a LIE! What I understand is, it is very unusual to see someone stay a day longer than required.

    Do I have bad gouge?

I would REALLY like to see the qualification of that survey. Either they are stretching a question, or simply misinterpreting the results. That is certainly not inline with my observations at KINS.

  8. From what I’ve seen the majority of MC-12s have been given to senior Majs/LTCs who went VFR direct to the group or wing and have never been through a single shift rotation. In fact, the last guy to go spent 17+ years (manned) flying without interruption. God forbid some lowly squadron shift-worker get a “good deal.” I think what pisses me off the most is that I’m fighting to fly a damn king air in the desert for six months. It’s not like I’m demanding an F-22 to Anchorage.

This is true, and it is absolute bullshit. Porkchop, call Crush or myself tomorrow for some more fantastic gouge from the LR side.

  9. You might want to check out Taurus, they've got a few 'Nines' that are pretty nice and well within your price range. I've got a PT111 (double stack) and a PT709 Slim (single stack) that are both BUGs but I trust them almost as much as my XD (which I love, but to each his own).

I too have a PT111 and just went through 2000 rounds through it. Not a single issue with the weapon. Anything from cheap Federal to Reloads, it consistently eats the ammo and puts lead downrange. It is now my everyday open carry piece, but will probably be replaced by a Kimber I hope to order TOMORROW!

  10. Maybe you didn't hear me...they make more porn in Van Nuys than anywhere in the world!

They're always looking for stand-ins to get the job done with a POV cam which means you can stay anonymous unless you have some sort of ink done on your junk.

Who cares about what direction you have to land!

No kidding. Just look towards Clay Lacy's fbo. All those jets are there for a reason. Across the street is an impressive array of studios!
