  1. Any thoughts on trying to palace chase with only 10 months left before I separate anyways? May have a guard/reserve opportunity in the future however from some of the timelines I've talked to guys about seem pretty long. My guess is that by time big blue processed my application and hypothetically approved I'd be out the door very shortly anyways...

    nsplayr,

Unless you're looking to shave off time for future employment opportunities...if you palace front (serve your remaining 10 months and then join the guard/reserve) you'll qualify for the guard/reserve bonus. It's not much but an extra 5-10K ain't bad. I palace chased off 10 months because I felt that, with the way airlines are starting to hire, 10 months could equal quite a few line numbers. We'll see if it pays off.

  2. Chappy,

Thanks for the update on the timeline. After it sitting on the WG/CC's desk for 65 days I finally got movement yesterday. Took a call to some people in strategic places, but it got a fire lit under someone. I'm guessing I'll learn my fate around Christmas time. So much for my original DOS of 8 Nov!

  3. Herc,

From clicking submit on vMPF to getting the SECAF approval email was 9 weeks for me. I made weekly calls to AFPC to "move it along." The status on the vMPF, when you view your application, doesn't necessarily reflect how the paperwork is progressing. Mine stated, "Referred to Palace Chase OPR" the entire time until it closed out on 30 Sept.

  4. Weird but good news,

I applied for palace chase in July 13 and just got my reply from SAF/PC. Background: 11F3H trying to palace chase 3 months PCS ADSC and 13 months post 9/11 TIB ADSC. My requested date of separation (Jan 14) was denied "with a contingency." The "contingency" per the memo was that if I agreed via email to rolex the date three months to Apr 14 it would be approved. The SMSgt from AFPC who was delivering the news said he hadn't seen a PC denial with a contingency before. I talked with my future reserve commander because it seemed fishy (maybe I'm just paranoid) and he recommended to get while the gettin's good. A few emails later I got my golden ticket. Anyone seen the "Palace Chase denied but kinda approved" act before?

  5. Did the e-mail tell you where you are going too after the TX? Or do you find that out later? Are they asking you if you want to, or is it a done deal?

    I wish I could say I'm surprised.....but I'm not.

No. I'm assuming that the follow on would be stated on the RIP, for those who get it. They have 9 eligibles at my base for five slots. The CC's have flexibility on who they send and had a sit down with everyone on the list to find out who's interested. They got a few volunteers right off the bat so some dudes may get non-vol'd if they can't fill the remainder. Hopefully it won't come to that. Talking with AFPC concerning how it will affect my palace chase paperwork, it looks like cubicle A isn't aware of what cubicle B is doing so I'm not sweating any negative effects. BL, if it happens then I 7 day opt and palace front 4 months later instead.

  6. I'm sure your white jet CC is overjoyed by this, if I were you I would run like the wind from white jet land. If you want to leave, just keep working through AFPC, don't leave it in the hands of people that would rather have you stay, cause they do. I'd be curious to see that email.

  7. Precursor to Stop Loss…any other 11F's get an email today that they're being recalled from their whitejet gig (after a year on station) for an F-16 TX course in Nov??? Evidently there's a surplus of cockpits and lack of volunteers. Who would have guessed?
