Since starting UPT I've noticed a pretty steady berating of the airline industry by the staff. Just about every briefing I attended as an APT'er or now while in Phase 1 has included shots fired at the airlines--specifically, the pilots themselves. Everyone from my flight commander on up has said something at some point: airline pilots are "puppets" or "bus drivers", military pilots are "much better trained in all aspects of flying" and if you wanted to fly for the airlines, "you wouldn't have come here". We have a lot of guard/reserve guys in our class and most, if not all of them, have said they're planning to head to the airlines when eligible. But none of them have been disrespectful or boasted about it. All of the active duty appear focused on getting the airframe they want--not career goals a decade or more away. I'm the oldest AD student in my class and have lofty goals of maybe working for the majors after my UPT commitment is satisfied, but I understand that's a ways off and dependent on a lot of variables (many of which are unknowns at this point). That said, we [the students] are not starting off conversations with the staff by saying "Hi, I'm Lt so and so, and I'm just here to use the USAF as a stepping stone to SWA". It's not like that at all from what I have observed and I am just wondering what prompted all of this lecturing about the airlines? Admittedly, I expected the occasional comparison or jab. However, this is habitual. Almost scripted?
Any other UPT studs or recent grads on here pick up on any of this? Gray Beards/Veterans, was it like this 10-15 years ago when you started pilot training? If this is a recent phenomenon, do you think it's connected to the Air Force's pilot exodus?
Stan, go study your boldface

i see it as, if you signed earlier your bonus goes up to match but no retroactive increase to previous years or you can resign the bonus for the new length and get the new amount for more time.
it's like BAH, it can go up but not back down. Seems pretty simple

You faked me out with that "gear up landing" title like it was some kind of barney crew. Gear malfunction is a totally different story and fred handles the nose up landings just fine.

The only thing that will fix the Air Force is a no-shit shooting match. Within a very short period of time, the weenies will be fired because they can't lead in combat, and the warriors will rise back to their rightful place at the top. The American public has become fat, dumb, and happy and that's why the Air Force is in the state it's in. Excellence is borne of strife, not prosperity.
I hope not with Air Force M9's, those things are so bent and beat that nothing goes straight.
Are you looking for solutions to the problem that will most likely never happen? Or just what everyone hates about the Air Force? I feel like this post could get way too long

Are T-6s next? Glad to hear the T-45 at least has ejection seat/ground egress options

Can a schoolhouse commander require students to use on base lodging? Is that in there anywhere? Because it's happening at Lackland for C-5M PIQ and ACIQ
Did they change who's running the place down there? Granted I had a Non-A when I went through years ago, but it was entirely a reservist show and they could have cared less where you lived as long as you showed up at brief time.
If there was one place worse than Randolph lodging, it would have been the Kelly Inn, that place was a dump. Unless you really liked cockroaches, then you'd be just fine.

The call for applications usually drops in the fall, your exec should send it out, but start building your 3849 now, as there could be a quick turn & that thing has a shitload of bullets for you to populate.
What kind of bullets are they looking for on the 3849? The only examples I could find were just a narrative paragraph about how the person would appreciate going to the community.
Any news on the board for this year?

If you haven't read the Ab Lincoln book, it's pretty good. It's nothing like the Twilight bullshit.
Yeah the book is great, Seth Grahame-Smith for those who havent read it. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is another good one, can't wait until they make that movie.
I've been waiting for vampire hunter to come out.
I don't want to spoil anything, but you cant tell from a trailer at what point in time theyre showing the washington monument.

None of that is required, just OG approval. Some people think NTA's are the most dangerous place in the world, but they're not a big deal.
