I like his general concept but the limitations or firm targets he sets on the dimensions of the aircraft seem a bit optimistic. .
One thing about his concept for a passive detection focused LWF that I don't see him address is how he will handle opponents practicing their own EMCON discipline and/or being distracted by decoys (ground or air launched). Cross cueing might solve that but without your own robust radar, seems kinda limited.
Exactly.
With a link that is/was highly resistant to jamming, I think that'd be one hell of a tactic. Have a bunch of shooters in FMS raging out front killing with the direction/guidance of quarterbacks in the rear with higher quality sensors out of reach from threats with bigger sticks. Not entirely different from current thoughts, but I'd feel a hell of a lot better in a "F-45" than a legacy Hornet...

Just submitted my package to the Oregon Air National Guard to be an F-15C pilot. Wish me luck!

BTW, the 8th AF lost more men over Europe than the Marines did in all of the Pacific. Somehow that never shows up in the Marines' propaganda efforts.
There is a reason we've been routinely named the best propaganda machine since Nazi Germany...

I call BS. That would require the AF to admit, even if only on a minor point, that they were wrong to pass on the T-45. AF leadership would rather put out a burning oil well with their own face than ever do this.
I predict us buying used T-50s from the DAKs before the first T-45 says USAF on the side.
Accidentally repped you when I thought that was the quote button. FML.
I'm not saying that is what is going to happen, just reporting what had occurred earlier this year. I have no dog in this fight.

After the AF consolidates nav training at Pcola, the Navy is getting rid of the T-39s; to replace the training radars they are using virtual A/A and A/G radar in the T-45s: Press Release including the ability to fight another aircraft w/datalink off of TCAS etc or a ghost operated by a ground instructor; the A/G simulator pulling in a terrain database and GPS to generate a ground map.
Don't know how well this will work since part of the WSO training was learning how to deal with a real-world flaky radar instead of the predictable returns from the sim.
Before I left Kingsville for Oceana, there was an AF guy hanging out around VT-22 logging a bunch of back seat time in our A/G and A/A events in order to evaluate the feasibility of using the T-45 for the Air Force.

It has a vHUD which is displayed on the glass. So it does have a "virtual HUD."
