     If you want to fly fighters, give it a shot.  Your career path might get weird, and you might not get a choice assignment, but if flying fighters is what you want to do, who cares?  You only get one shot at life, so don't have any regrets.  I flew fighters with crossflow guys and most did just fine, no better or worse than any other group.  My guard unit hired a UH-60 driver from the Army to fly Vipers and he turned out to be one of our best sticks.  Attitude and work ethic can take most folks a long way.  You may get hosed or you may not, but at least you tried.

     I was a banked pilot who spent two years listening to doom and gloom from a whole bunch of geniuses -  we were going to get washed out, have no career, never catch up with the guys who went right into as LT.s, etc.  It all turned out to be bullshit.   After 23 years and multiple weapon systems I can tell you there are no "rules" out there, just lots of opinions  - including mine!
