  1. Yeah. The Rock might not be paradise. But it's a far, far cry from Altus. BTW, C17 PIQ is SCHEDULED for around 100 days. They get backed up on the flightline. I got about an extra month of LTS appreciation and had to have my orders extended. It sucked. That being said, the guys on the flight line are pretty top notch. They do the best they can with what they have.
  2. 3 guard guys in my class went to NAS Corpus for follow on training after tweets, but they're all 130 guys. So that's definitely an option. As for choosing your UPT base, it's a lost cause. They'll put you where they want you. I asked around a lot (Freeman included) trying to get XL and got sent to CB. That being said, someone out there has to be the one that makes the decision. If you got strings, pull 'em.
  3. Check out www.charleston.net in the real estate section. That should get you started in the right direction.
  4. "real" missions? The middle east not "real" enough? Not to be trite, but I'm not sure what you consider real. My unit is in & out of Iraq & the Stans regularly, as are most airlift units. Can't speak for the fighter side...
  5. I went through Brooks as a reservist last fall. It's pretty much a 3 day ordeal, all said and done. You'll show up the evening before & check into billeting. I think there's even a phone number i called to "report in" after 1700. They have a bus that picks you up bright and early the next morning so that you arrive at the testing center / holding room at 0700. Most likely, you'll be done by 1500 or 1600. Hit the riverwalk that night and then you'll leave the next day. They specifically tell you not to make flight reservations for the day of testing, in case they need to keep you around a little longer. If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me. Good luck!
  6. For a lot going into Reserve airlift, it's already a fulltime job. My unit's been activated for over 2 years, with another extension on the horizon. So, depending on where you're going, especially for the foreseeable future, you may be getting plenty of time on active duty anyway.
  7. They won't do it unless you bring a driver, also. They'll give you a brief on it when you lock in a date & time.
  8. The Air Force has made the Officer Accesion recruiters a much more common thing. My recruiter tells me that, a year from now, he wouldn't be able to handle me. They're in a transition phase right now.
