Snoopy59 Posted July 9 Posted July 9 (edited) The movers showed up without wardrobe boxes that I requested weeks, if not a month in advance of my move date. JPPSO was like they didn't bring wardrobe boxes, that's a pretty standard thing! After calling JPPSO, they made them deliver wardrobe boxes to my house. The young lady overseeing the movers tried to tell me that they were going to stand up my Tempurpedic Breeze mattress in the crate. I let everyone know well in advance that I have a HIGH VALUE Tempurpedic Breeze mattress. It must ALWAYS be shipped flat (laying down). In fact, I've never had to explain this to any moving company contracted by the military. After I tell them I have a Tempurpedic Breeze, they know exactly how to ship it. But not this time around. Then the same woman looked me dead in the face and told me the mattress would have to be shipped standing up. I knew from that very moment that this was not a credible moving company. I called JPPSO, who in turn jumped on the phone with the dispatch for the moving company to tell them how they're supposed to ship my mattress. As the movers were loading my 75 inch Sony 4K/3D LCD tv into their truck. My tv was in its original box from Sony, which included the original protective styrofoam. I had conducted two PCSs without any issues with the tv. Anyway, I noticed the movers turning the tv on its side. I told the young lady overseeing the movers that it shouldn't be shipped on its side and that would be a very costly mistake for them. She told me they ship these tvs all the time. I made note of it with JPPSO and my TSP. It took me 2.5 days to travel from Texas to my retirement location in California. I was ready to receive my HHGs, but my shipment wasn't delivered for a month. The tv arrived in California damaged. Why? Because they shipped the tv on it's side while resting on top of 50-75 lb metal free weights in a hot shipping crate for a month. This caused an internal crack along the edge of the tv screen. Luckily, I had recorded my high value HHGs before my move and uploaded the videos to my private YouTube page. I had filmed my tv with it turned on and displaying the DirecTV channel guide for proof of date and time. Additionally, I filmed evey aspect of the tv to include the edges as the pre game for the Super Bowl was taking place while I recorded. When I filed my claim, I was able to submit the links to my YouTube videos. I also had the original receipt from 2015 when I first purchased the tv at Best Buy. I received full replacement value for my 2015 tv of $5K due to the Military Claims Office at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio advising me on what to do. The claims office told me that the contractor would say they're going to pick up the damaged tv, but they never do. I upgraded to an 83 inch Sony 4K OLED tv for $6K. Talking about one hell of a retirement gift for my final PCS. The new tv sits beside the 75 inch Sony since it still works, but has a faint light bar that spans the entire left edge of the screen and the line is about a quarter of an inch in width. 1. Film your high value HHGs! 2. Select your moving company. I was able to do this 2 times out of my last 3 PCSs. 3. The contractor will try to low ball you if they break anything. If you have the original receipt, do not accept their low ball offer. Even if you don't have the original receipt, do not accept a low ball offer. I'm not sure why they're allowed to hustle or try to meditate with gullible Airmen. Especially Airmen who are really young. Edited July 12 by Snoopy59
