B.S - Aeronautics - 3.67 GPA

Private Pilot working on instrument rating.

Member of Civil Air Patrol for 11+ years. I have held a couple of leadership positions in CAP including Cadet Commander of a squadron, PAO NCOIC, and Flight Commander for Encampment.

Outside of CAP, my only leadership position would be with my current employer. I am a Lead Operational Control Specialist for a Part 135 company. I ensure the safe and efficient operation of EMS helicopters and airplanes by sharing joint-flight safety responsibility with the pilots. As a lead, I am responsible for the operational oversight, guidance, and direction to operational control specialists.

I’m applying to the 129th Rescue Wing to fly either the HH60 or the HC130J. Goal would be the HH60 because I have developed a strong passion for the Helicopter Air Ambulance mission in my current position.

From what my recruiter told me, boards would be in about 6-8 months. Hubby (who is AD AF) and I are PCSing out to California in January so I plan on visiting the unit shortly after.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Good scores, great flying experience, great leadership, great volunteer experience, great GPA and major, and age is fine.

You're a strong candidate with a solid background. Get a solid resume, cover letter, and LOR's and you're good to go. Definitely visit and rush the unit if you have an opportunity to do so and they'll allow it to give yourself the best chance. Good luck!
