Broad won't get you any good answers.  Every country will have a SOFA which can severely restrict dependents ability to work both on base and off.  Some countries (UK) are pretty easy to find a job on base and off (with the right VISA).  Its going to vary greatly by country.

    Let's go with Germany then!

EFMP will check with the gaining doctor who gets to decide if they can support, so it’s very doctor and location dependent. The whole process is kind of a joke for some of the stuff people get denied for.

How long does the process typically take to get approved or not? And is the screening just to get the individual on the EFMP list? Or is it a physical and everything

Thank you! That helps. My soon to be wife had a significant back surgery 5 years ago. No follow ups or anything needed. Maybe something down the road though if it got out of place. But was curious to see if that would disqualify our current OCONUS trip.

^looking at what qualifies, it looks like only once a year check ups or more would made it an issue

Have you looked at DoDI 1315.19.  Section 3 has a list of conditions, though it seems rather vague, which may be a good thing.

Same as always, work hard play hard. You’ll be busy no matter which base you go to. You’ll go to some really cool places and some not so nice places (fun in of itself). 3000’ dirt LZs and unlike the dirty H model (I jest), you’ll land there as a brand new Co. Airdrop is a lot of fun. There is a lot of GK to maintain and mission planning can result in some  long days. Leadership are generally good dudes and gals these days, and there is definitely a push to be more survivable in the first island chain so expect to be challenged when you get to the unit and be in the vault studying quite a bit. PM me with more questions.

Thanks for the info. How often do you go tdy during the month? I’m assuming out of ramstein they stay pretty busy

I know a quite a few helo types in the regionals, only a couple in the majors. The dudes in the majors now spent a good bit of time flying regionals, and one was a contract ISR bubba after helos.

How is the lifestyle of a senior regional pilot? Also, how long did the helo guys stay at the regional before bumping to the majors?
