  1. You're probably closer to the truth here, as a matter of fact.

Geez guys, they are getting the exact result they want. They want to divide us and make us hate each other.

As for the coronavirus stuff, I need no source that lockdowns don’t work. If they did we wouldn’t have cases spiking in areas where they were implemented. Same with mask use, if a high percentage of people are wearing masks, then why the spiking case numbers months after they were implemented? It’s a fvcking respiratory virus that is highly contagious. It’s a force of nature that we cannot control. Even Sweden is having a spike over the last month, it seems that no matter what the policy, the shit is still going to spread.

  2. If anyone looks at the situation from a purely objective standpoint, then they will come to the conclusion that something weird happened. You can put me in the category who voted the way I did only because I wanted to stop what I see as harmful policies from the other side - but I am no huge Trump fan and I think his never ending merry go round in DOD with regards to leadership and policy hasn't been the most stabilizing force for my life or my mission.  But as we reflect on Veteran's Day today, what does it mean to serve this nation?  We all swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign, and domestic.  The two sides here probably have different views of who that domestic enemy might be, some believe Trump himself is a domestic threat.  Others may think a huge conspiracy that seems to have undermined his presidency from the beginning is the domestic threat (Comey, Brenan, etc.).

I stayed up until 3 am on election night because I was adjusting my sleep schedule for work.  Nobody can deny that something completely unprecedented happened.  I was switching between all different news channels: CNN, FOX, FOX Business, and even Newsmax.  It was quite strange that early projections all favored Biden while the same people refused to call states for Trump in which he clearly had a large lead.  We were conditioned in the weeks prior to the election that mail in votes would sway results as time went on. Then the unprecedented thing occurred - counting in many battleground states ceased unexplainably somewhere around 1 AM EST (best I can recall).  These are the key states to victory by either side, why on earth would the election officials decide to throw in the towel for the night and stop counting ballots?  I've heard one counting location told the Republicans they stopped counting at 10:30 pm, only to continue counting without oversight until 1 am.  Now we have affidavits from people who participated in the process that oversight wasn't permitted to view what was actually going on.  Imagine if the roles were reversed and Republicans controlled county commissioner positions and vote counting in these major urban counties.  If the Republicans refused Democrat oversight of the counting process, we would be hearing that on the media 24/7 non-stop.  There is data that suggests large dumps of mail in ballots were counted late at night that heavily favored Biden - this illustrates that they were not actually sent through the mail but were delivered to counting locations by other means.  If they had been mailed, then they would have been more randomized and they tend to favor Republican candidates as time goes on since rural areas take longer for ballots to be shipped and processed. https://twitter.com/aphilosophae/status/1325592112428163072?s=10

Now you have Biden standing out there in front of a sign that reads "Office of the President-Elect" (which doesn't exist) giving speeches about how he is already engaging in talks with foreign leaders.  This is the same activity that the Trump administration was targeted for during the transition process last time.  Biden doesn't answer any reporter's questions, and then is escorted off the stage, shuffling like an elderly dementia patient.  I've had 3 grandparents die suffering from dementia and other diseases similar to Alzheimer's, the guy is not well.  If the election is certified with Biden as the winner, I fear for his future and what turmoil may come down the road.  Remember he stated during the first debate that he would not claim victory until the election was independently certified.  I'm not sure he remembers saying that.

I have no idea what will happen, I am just a dumb military pilot that has sacrificed a lot for this country.  It pains me on Veteran's Day to see our Constitution being trampled throughout our country.  From new draconian coronavirus lockdowns that obviously haven't worked, additional mandates to only breathe air filtered by a mask (which also hasn't worked the past 6 months), now our election system is being brought into question either by people hell bent on taking down Trump or his craziness in refusing to accept the results.  It's a sad time for our country.

  3. So what exactly does that guy want? There isn’t much the current generation can do for sins committed hundreds of years ago. I’m thinking he and those that think like him should move somewhere else and start their own country because they clearly have zero desire to be a part of this one.

  4. I tried digging through the thread but couldn't find an answer that was clear to me.  Has anyone done a TDY enroute to PCS during which you left your family at your losing CONUS station during the TDY, completed the TDY and signed in to the new unit (maybe being a geo-bachelor for a bit), and then moved the family to the gaining CONUS location?  With the COVID shenanigans going on, I'd like to leave my family at my current location while I go to training (they like it here, better support network for the frau) and I'll come back and get them when it's over (hopefully during the winter break so it's an easier transition for the kiddos).  If anyone has pulled a plan like that off, what are some of the gotchas that I should be looking out for?

I did something similar. With TDY en-route, you will still be receiving BAH based on your losing base location since it is unaccompanied. Check BAH rates for both locations, because when you check into the gaining base the BAH rate will change. If it’s significantly less than the old base, you might have to come out of pocket. However, finance can adjust the BAH based on dependent location. Your living expenses as a geo-bachelor will be all out of pocket. Be sure to keep your new unit informed of your plan, you will have to take leave to get the family moved whenever it is time.

  5. Pilot or bust.

When I applied to OTS, the Air Force was producing far fewer pilots annually. I was told by the first recruiter that I wouldn’t be looked at for a pilot slot with less than 200 hours and multiple civilian ratings. When I finally was able to submit my package to the board, I only put pilot. I was told the same line about the selection board valuing me being willing to do other jobs, but I wasn’t buying it. I got selected for pilot on my first board with only 30 flight hours and I got the chance to live my dream. I had to put up with a lot on active duty, but the years I spent hacking the mission with some of the greatest people you’ll ever know will always be some of the best of my life.

The Air Force is much more in need of pilots today than when I was selected. Go for it.

  6. Got Tentative Approval today. Applied on 27 March, pretty quick turnaround. Wouldn’t be surprised if this got done quickly due to the outlook of the economy and the Rona. I was able to see I was approved through the attachments included under my separation application in vMPF. Below is the timeline for approval. I was pretty lucky to have my SQ/CC & WG/CC approve my package. It was obvious from the comments in CMS that played a part for the AFPC approvers.

Question for previous parolees. My PC date is 16 October. I live on the opposite side of the country from my ANG unit. It’s going to take me a solid 5 days to get there. Do I have to swear into my unit on the 17th or will I be given travel days to get there?

Your separation orders should specify. Mine showed my ANG unit as the gaining unit and I was given 7 days to get there. Technically I guess that means I could have sworn in 7 days after separation, but I moved while on terminal so I swore in immediately after. I would ask the question to a personnellist just to avoid a break in service.

  7. It also came with a 20, yes 20 year ADSC.  So yes, people avoided it like Coronavirus.

I think the option to coast as a grey beard Maj or 0-5 flying the line and perma ADO, coupled with a 100k bonus is the only option to even put a dent in the retention numbers.

Shack. The ADSC was the death knell. Nobody who is interested in this program wants to be on the hook for that long, or at all. That guarantees you a 365.

As for the pay issue, Over 6 year flight pay in 1990 was $650, it’s currently $700. Adjusted for inflation it should be $1,282 per month. The AF can pay $800 in flight pay for Over 6, and $1000 for Over 10 but they refuse.

I’m not saying it’s all about the money, but erosion of these benefits over time has an effect on retention. I didn’t even mention BAH value cuts. Fixing issues like this and allowing guys to stay on a ‘fly-only’ track that preserves their ability to make decisions about their future might get them to stay for an additional assignment or two.

  8. The implementation of the PTDY rules are fuzzy. How many times have you checked into a new unit after PCS and been given the 10 days PTDY for house hunting even if you already had a house? For me it was every single assignment. I had zero issues asking for the 20 days for separation, and my CC was happy to approve it as long as I cited that rule in the reg.

  9. The same clown organization that ”forgot” to annotate an Airman’s court martial conviction for domestic violence in the FBI NCIC database. Which allowed him to pass a background check, purchase guns, and subsequently shoot up his former in-laws church in Texas.

I was never more ashamed of being a member of the Air Force than the day I heard that news.

As for Flash’s case, I’m wondering what was done to help him while all of this craziness was going on with his wife. He was at Creech for an extremely long time, maybe PCS orders and some one-on-one counseling about the benefits of leaving said stripper behind in Vegas could have helped. The best thing to do for all involved would be to learn from it and better heed the warning signs in the future. It’s just plain sad.

  10. Flash was on my combat team at Creech several years ago, we were named together. He was always kind of a goofball, but I would have never expected something like this. I can definitely say I’m glad I wasn’t young and single when I was sent to Vegas to kill people for a living, who knows how I would have handled it. Whether he actually did what he was convicted of or not, his life definitely took a dark turn the past few years. I’m shocked to say the least.

He walked into his naming stripped down and wearing a toga, Roman helmet, and carrying the Spartan shield and spear. It was pretty hilarious.

  11. great info thanks!
can i set an official date of seperation (end of my ADSC this december)? Would that even do anything?
not against deploying, but def against deploying for a non flying gig to be a power point useless ranger.

My In Service Recruiter said I could not have a set date of separation while applying for Palace Chase. I wanted to hedge my bets same as you, to avoid a 180. So you’ll have to choose one or the other, I believe. Also the built up leave probably won’t protect you because they’ll just make you sell it back instead of letting you take it as terminal.

So you can roll the dice with PC and maybe be out in June and have terminal prior to that. Or you can set a separation date for December which might buy you an even earlier 180 day to meet the timeline.

  12. UPT IP

was told today WG/CC will recommend disapprove 6 months PC packet.

what happens after that? Does it still route up to AFPC?

secondly....hot for a 6 month deployment this June- December. UPT ADSC is expired this December.

can I 7 day opt that? Other options?

You can’t 7 day opt a 180. However, having a PC application already pending may deflect it to someone else in the Ops Group. In the MAF, the 180s were handed down by the OG. If you get approved while on said deployment, they would have to task someone else.

AFI 36-3205 has a restriction against sending applicants TDY without coordinating with AFPC/DPSOS (1.4.13), however it does not apply to aircrew members. I’m not sure if that would include 180 day ground deployments. My belief is that is to allow a crew member to be sent on short term missions while awaiting application (makes sense). However, you can bet someone will use that to their advantage and still try to send you on a deployment.

  13. I have done this before as well with TX-1 at Holloman. We packed essentials and lived in base housing during the TDY and it was unaccompanied. Big Blue expects you to leave your family at your current duty station and have your wife manage kids and the entire move process solo.

Hopefully you don’t get a dick at finance like the QA civilian I dealt with. It took 6 months to be paid correctly because she argued I didn’t receive any lodging or perdiem for the TDY because I was “staying with family.” Your other issue will be having your temporary HHG storage extended, I was able to do it twice with just an email.

  14.
Pretty much everything for the C-17 currency wise is in the sim. I've been out for a little bit, but I think all that's required for a copilot to get in the jet is 1-2 tactical sorties per semi. ACs add maybe 2-4 extra AR sorties per semi.

Near peer preparation has driven more currency items to the jet. More tactical sorties and flights in chem gear.

If AMC asked for IPs back to finish the training, what aircraft would they fly? We didn’t even have enough to fill the current required training sorties to keep the squadron current and get all the beans finished each semi. There is definitely no excess training capacity for UPT phase 3 or 4, or whatever you would want to call it.
