  1. Thank god I am in the guard. Just make sure finance knows and boom, I am a captain. No paperwork, board, etc. I do A bullshit OPR once a year that no one takes seriously. I sympathize with you guys, too much queep bs on AD.

Come on dude, don't be THAT Guard guy! Don't worry my friend, the queep/bs spigot has turned from slow drip to a steady stream, and is only getting worse. I have seen my OPRs go from what you have described above, to shit that would water any boards eyes. Total BS, but apparently someone is taking note and the shit is becoming more important. We have our fair share of BS, just a different flavor of BS! It probably won't get any better when we all receive our AD TFI guys here in a year or so. Times....they are a changin'!

  2. B707/B720. Point? The reason 135 guys get a B707 type is because there is simply no -80 type out there. The 135 is shorter, narrower, and has a shorter wing span than the 707. Furthermore, every single major system of the two airplanes is substantially different. They are not the same, or even really that similar beyond outside appearance.

Point...same as Sky and Tac. Thanks, it's always good for a laugh.

  3. Can you describe the timeline that you made go over 3 years in the AF without getting an OPR? Yea, I never had an OPR as a 2LT but had 2 as a 1LT.

I had two friends who showed up to the B-Course as Captains. There were quite a few who were Captains by the end of the B-course or shortly after arriving in their first ops squadron. None of them were prior rated...just had lots of casual and BIT (this was back when Eagles were breaking apart, Luke and DM were having mx issues).

My first OPR cover a year as a 1LT and half as a Capt...and I only had minor delays in training.

  4. What was the topic of this thread again?

We were discussing the difference between the JSTARS and AWACS.

Basically, one has a cool spiny thing on top, and other has a big adam's apple. Oh, and AWACS co-pilots are spitters!

    Title changed.

    To the OP:

    AWACS, aka E-3

    JSTARS, aka E-8

Might want to learn the difference

  5. Terrible waste of money.

On the same note, why do we have to change the company that makes flight suits every 6-9 days? (or so it seems) Watch out for the recent batch made by Carter Industries. The stitching falls out after one wash. Two brand new bags, both are falling apart at the seams. Litterally!

I have several from two years ago made by Equa Industries. Still going rock solid.

2 same. Within a month of getting 2 new pair, both had been into our AFE shop (twice) to sew up the stitching...total POS!

  6. Tech. Sergeant Sick of Air Force's Indian Logos: After 17 years in the Air Force, Tech. Sgt. Larry Miller (Eastern Cherokee) was appalled when he was transferred to Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, and noticed the logos depicting Indians, he says. Among the ones that upset him most was the 93rd Bomb Squadron’s unit patch, which depicts the severed head of an American Indian, a poster showing an Indian skull wearing a headdress with the words “Immortal Soul," and the word “Indian” used as a call sign over the radio. Miller filed an equal opportunity complaint. But the Air Force concluded that the depictions and call sign were not racist and labeled the complaint "totally unsubstantiated." As so often is the case, the response stated that the use of Indian images was not disrespectful but meant to honor Indians. Miller plans to stay on the case until the Air Force gets rid of all mascots, logos and other depictions of Indians, especially, he says, the ones that include a headdress. “Once somebody says, ‘totally unsubstantiated,’ that’s basically what we’ve dealt with for hundreds of years,” he said. “Now it’s basically the few against the many.”

    —Meteor Blades

I'm offended, that you're offended by this patch!

Holy fuck, how are some many people out there offended by bullshit!?!? I can't even remember the last time I saw something or heard something that even remotely offensive to me!

  7. Lots of articles out recently how his SEAL buddies are not allowing him back to gatherings etc.

My guess is that he really doesn't care.

Friendly forces identification fail. SF not the same as SOF and SF did not play a role in the raid. To be fair the media and civilians make this error all the time (Biden did in his DNC speech) but I'm assuming you're military so don't make the same mistake.

...and not a single fuck was given. I'm willing to bet that a good majority of the military population doesn't know, or care about the difference. There are people in the AF that don't even know what kind of planes are based at their base.

Not a lot of notable landmarks in that area that the majority of Americans would know of, heck I would be surprised if many people in this country could even find Afghanistan or Pakistan on a map.

    +1

I'm amazed at how little some Americans know about the geography of the U.S.A!

  8. God damnit, I avoid Facebook for a reason. Don't copy and paste that factless, baseless bullshit here. Show up with something more than some high school drop out's napkin notes.

Dude, it's true...it's on the internet! What more could you want?

  9. I give a fuk, what Marines think, they were double-dutching with our enemy's windpipes when the Air Force was a turd smear on some Army general's mattress. I suspect anyone who has been on the ground with them does too. Of course, I'm biased. With regards to them thinking non-Marines are pussies.. well, if the shoe fits. People dont join the Marines for the benfits package.

    Nope...still don't care.

Call me jaded but no doubt we (or Israel) could roll over Iran but even if it was just Israel doing a anti-nuke strike, I think we would be drawn into another decade of peace keeping duties, complete with insurgents and IEDs and the overall sense of futility of what was actually being accomplished.

    This!
