  1. On a different issue, check this out:

    http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/03/02/high-school-student-disarms-gunman-gets-suspended/

So a few students disarm a fellow student that was holding another student at gunpoint...and the heroic students get suspended? WTF? Unless there are some more extreme details not being discussed, then this is insane. Though then again, it comes from the public school system which as a whole is very idiotic, compliments from liberal ideology and the teachers union.

If I were the parents, I would demand a public apology along with the school authorities stating how the kids were heroic...if not, pull them out of the school. This is what our country has become in a lot of places, quite sad.

    No good deed goes unpunished!

I guess the school admin would have rather let the guy shoot the other student.

  2. This is a good article about the budgetary push and pull you get from competing generations (graying baby-boomers vs the kids of today).

In a Pew Research Center survey this spring, just 23 percent of white seniors said they preferred a larger government that offers more services; 61 percent preferred a smaller government that offers fewer services. Among minorities, the attitude was essentially reversed: 62 percent preferred a larger government and 28 percent a smaller one.

    Hmm...I wonder why?

  3. Colorado is in the process of becoming one of the most restrictive gun states. If all the laws go through, MAGPUL will be forced to move out of state and close to 700 jobs will be lost along with millions in revenue. Regretting not starting my collection sooner.

Texas will gladly take them and their jobs, with open arms.

  4. You list PEX as a bad example, but if you compare the budgets of these programs you'd be amazed at how good PEX is for how much it costs.

That is so sad...we are getting shit for what the tax payers are shelling out for that program. Any reputable company would have tossed that thing to the side and moved on, a long time ago! Instead we just make do with every POS program that the DOD buys. Programs designed to save time and help, which do neither. Yet another reason we are broke.

What's that...you want to do what? Oh no, it can't do that. Sure, we could write some code to make it do that, but that's going to cost you another million dollars. We should be able to get that right out to you in v6.9...around 2020!

Our contracting and acquisitions process it's totally fucked!

Here's a good masters thesis for someone. On top of the original investments, how much money have we blown, in wasted man hours caused by DTS and PEX.

  5. He decides to leave the military with 16 years in, then complains of inability to get a job and pay for health care, and his father laments that he's taken monumental risks but can't get paid for it? I think we know he has plenty of job opportunities that pay well. Not a fan of this article.

Maybe he wasn't briefed that you had to stay to 20 years to join the check of the month program...

  6. And oh, BTW, you make more money broken in Rota, Ramstein, or Hickam than 3.50/day at any "undisclosed" location.

we get the same tax break by spending 1-2 days a month in country

You're well on your way to an airline career.

  7. Yikes. AMC is harsh.

ACC...but the command isn't the problem.

    POSIT?

ANG. It's more of a state thing, but I know of at least 3 other states that have the same rule. It's what happens when you have the Army in your chain of command. Alcohol hasn't been allowed on base for >5 years.

  8. That's just sad! I remember in FFA, we had a kid bring in a muzzle loader and demonstrate how to load one for a instructional presentation (no powder or ammo...just simulated). But then again, having a gun wasn't a big deal where I grew up, because most of us had handled a gun since early elementary. It also wasn't uncommon to have guns in our cars for hunting groundhogs on the way to and from school. I'm guessing that wouldn't fly anymore. Somehow we never had a gun related incident...probably because they knew most of us would run to our cars and get our weapons.

For time reference, this was late 90s/early 2000s.

  9. Airline training would cover all of those requirements, but you have to get to that training. Most airlines use web based apps now and they won't accept your app/profile without an ATP, Class 1 medical, etc.

True, if the airline requires it. Delta and United do not require it and will accept your app without an ATP. US Airways doesn't require it and the last time American hired they didn't require it either. One of our guys asked their recruiter if he should just go get it and the captain looked at him like he was an idiot. He said we give it to you in training (STS), so unless you have a couple grand burning a hole in your pocket, I wouldn't waste your money. He still got interviewed and hired. But yes, I know FedEx/SWA require it and it never hurts to check the container, but it's not necessarily a requirement.

being an ATP holder will soon be a requirement to be an airline copilot, so it will be one of the screening tools of the airlines.

You will only need to have an ATP to fly pax. So unless they are proposing a rule that says you have to have an ATP to be hired, you should be ok. Most airlines will give you your ATP as part of your check ride in training (that's how I got mine). But all the ones I have seen recently just say you need to have ATP mins.

I'm only pointing this out because if they don't give the mil an exception, this could cost a lot of $$$$. Being military, I can't see that not having your ATP will hurt you too much, especially if they truly need as many pilots as predicted. Now if you really want SWA/FedEx then you're pretty much screwed into paying the money.

  10. All the stuff listed will be covered in any airline training and most likely will suffice. Most airlines don't actually require you to have your ATP, just the mins and the written. If you're going to try the SWA route, then I'm sure higher power will adjust their program if needed. Undoubtedly there will be a mil exception.

  11. Hey, we all can't be matmacwc, pretty high standard there.

I thought landing at the right airport, with your gear down, was the minimum standard?

ORM should have stopped this flight. Two IPs in the same aircraft...horrible idea. Hate flying the family model, even worse when someone is in the back (minus incentive rides).

  12. 307qh79.jpg

There's an interesting story behind that pic...

For those that don't know. http://www.ajc.com/n...eam-memb/nQKwH/ I'm guessing, these two won't be posing for any pics together anytime soon.

Proves the saying, no matter how hot she is, someone is tired of fucking her.

Is there a point to posting all those Jessie Abbate pics, other than she is attractive and a damn good shot?
