I'm glad to hear your unit is able to remain focused on the mission.  I'm curious if you can tell if the current senior leadership is focusing on social issues instead of mission ones.  It was clear to me and many of my in my cohort.  It wasn't good.

I’m going to caveat this by saying that I am retired and can’t speak to the current internal climate of nsplayer’s wing. But I will say that I have known the WG/CC and Command Chief for a long time and consider them very close friends. They are 2 of the most fair individuals I have ever served with. When the WG/CC was a SQ/CC, I was his DO. One of the best commanders I ever worked for. He always asked my opinion or for my advice. He was well informed and a great aviator, but more so , he was a great person. I am sure he addresses the social issues but I would be very surprised if they drive his decisions. I would say the very same thing about the Command Chief. That wing is in great hands.

Now that funny and not something I'd ever thought about.  When I was doing augmented ops, noone cared or thought about who was in the left seat when the Captain was on break. Then again, we also don't bid for the "bunkie" position.  The Captain, or more likely a conversation between all us, decides who gets what landings then we figure out the breaks with the landing pilot getting their choice.  Who gets the landings was mostly dependent on keeping people current, or not current if they wanted to go to the sim for bounces.  I've heard in other shops, people can be quite militant about who gets the landings.

Yep, this is how we do it as well. Very rarely does the CA stress or verify that the senior FO signs the paper. Usually a good sign of the toolbag FO, is the one who is stressing they are senior and insist of left seat/bunk.

  3. Eh…you’re flying too close to the sun here man.
I have thus far not claimed this condition because I do not, in fact, have ringing in my ears.
Without appropriate symptoms, a service member should not claim to suffer from a condition that would warrant a disability rating, full stop.

And you likely never will in the GCS. All of my damage was done in the Herk.

  4. I remember my first trip to ORD at my regional.  We got on the A taxiway and the alley was blocked, so the Captain just kept making right turns between A and B without a clearance.  He's said just don't stop and and they couldn't care less what we do, if you stop, they yell at you lol.  I've unfortunately flown there enough to know what taxi route they'll give me, but I avoid the place big time.  One of my bids is actually avoid long layovers at ORD, because of the long ass drive into downtown during rush hour.

This is of the many reasons I like flying the 717 into all the burgs & villes throughout the eastern U.S.  You almost never have wait on anything, no conga line, rarely any "flow," one taxiway to one of the 5 gates, security is a breeze, and the people are nice. The hardest part about these airports is sometimes you have to turn the lights on yourself and occasionally you have use your phone to get a clearance.

    Sitting on one now

  5. can you elaborate on project? I really like my civilian job as a paramedic, so anything useful I can do with the medical section (training with them, getting approved to run my squadron's medical training) would be a dream.

Find your niche, which sounds like you may have. If you do become an AGR, you will likely be told what you will be doing as most AGR positions have a job defined by the manning document.

  6. I gave up my FFDO weapon since I fly internationally and i truly miss the ease of pulling out the badge and breezing through security.  I'm still the same person with the same background check, etc. but now I'm back to the random BS.  I don't bother with KCM and just do the crew approved TSA Pre-check line.  50% exceeds any definition I assign to the term "random."

I go to the closest line, which is more often than not, PreCheck.

  7. It has to take some serious commitment to willingly burn yourself to death.  He could not have been more wrong in his convictions, but I'm impressed he was able to hold out as long as he did and with almost no indication of the agony he was surely going through.  Maybe, just maybe, not everyone that is woke is a wussy coward.  Not sure if that is reassuring or not.
As has been said, imagine what this dude could have done if he had put that same commitment towards a worthy cause.

    Maybe some pharmacological assistance?

  8. I can't stand looking at Hunter Biden's face and I want Papa Biden to die already.  How can this garbage be considered for another run?   Also, quit picking Trump for the Republicans. There's gotta be someone else in the United States who can do a better job than both of these clowns, while not dancing with death (from old age) everyday.  WTF is wrong with our political parties?

Of course there is, but who in the hell would want to put their family thru the scrutiny of a campaign. Isn’t that why Colin Powell said he would never run for office?
