You should change your availability to the day you start terminal leave. You'll get some time after indoc to spend with the family. You (understandably) don't appreciate what 1 month of seniority means.

Damn!
Can these aircraft be equipped with GCAS or would the system be rendered useless due to them flying so low already?
Do you want a system enabled on your airplane that rolls your airplane wings level and pulls up when you fly your whole routine in super fingertip?

Are the take rates here?

Your family isn’t authorized to be TDY with you even though it’s a TDY enroute. You will get hosed if the nonA says your family is with you.
You packed up and have no house anywhere, I get that. But the AF still expects you to be at training alone and won’t reimburse you for family related expenses...be very careful
His family isn't "authorized" to be there? Does it say that on his wife's orders?

If diversity of skin color = battlefield success I’m interested in the evidence.
More generally, do you believe that America is the best country in the world? Do you think it's a coincidence that it's also the most ethnically diverse?

"I can't offer you the compensation that Delta Airlines can," Holmes said. "What we can offer you is a life of meaning and purpose.
Ah, a life of meaning and purpose, felt so strongly by C-130 pilots dropping off and picking up the same pallets of water around the AOR for 4 months in a row, or by a fighter pilot starting their 4th hour of orbiting supporting a JTAR that the army forgot existed 9 months ago, or by the major spending 365 days away from his family building powerpoint slides that people glance at for seconds at a time, or the captain right in the middle of the IPUG who spent a weekend finishing up OPRs on his guys that don't even end up going in front of a board.
This whole thread is a testament to the meaning and purpose the Air Force provides.

With what money? Medicare has a 6 month wait to receive insurance.

I thought your original argument was that Tricare is worth consideration because of coverage during catastrophic illnesses.
Now I have no idea what you're arguing. If you lose your job and lose your insurance and have no money the bills will "break you"? I agree. Isn't that the same on Tricare?

Why wouldn't this someone just sign up for different insurance if they knew their plan was expiring? Especially if they were sick?

Annual.

My out of pocket max for Blue Cross is like $4k ($8k for the family). We could each have a million dollars in medical bills and never pay more than that.
When was this that you saw someone with insurance who was broken financially because of catastrophic illness?

Do these guys get extended f-16 syllabi or do they operate under the same one as normal UPT grads?

If by that you mean a lack of civilian women who are white just like the prevailing AF officer pilot population, then yes, that very much is a primary reason why "shitting where you eat" is more common at DLF than the other UPT bases. I don't know why people tip toe so much around this demographic self evident truth.
Wtf? I don't think that's what he means at all.

Read a rumor that the 11F take rate is under 10% according to this website:
https://starsraw.afpc.randolph.af.mil/avb/avb.html
I don't have access so can't comment on the validity.
The new fighter retention guy says it's not that bad and that it will be close to last year's rate.

Guess there are no airline pilots in the guard or Reserve.

Would you clarify this?
You cannot fly for hire between indoc and training? Or ever?
Ever. They have no way of tracking your FAA hour limits (like 30 in 7 or 100 in 30) for outside flying so their solution is to just prohibit it.
-
I'm pretty sure no airline cares what you do between indoc and training. The only caveat my airline has is that you can't fly for hire once you're on the payroll (military excluded.)
It was weird to me too transitioning to working for an employer who doesn't give a shit what you do when you're not at work.

I mean, except for:
- Michael Flynn (pleaded guilty to lying about Russian contacts during the campaign)
- Rick Gates (pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud the United States)
- George Papadopoulos (pleaded guilty to lying about contacts with Russians)
- 13 Russian nationals & 3 Russian companies (indicted for election interference), and
- 12 Russian military intelligence officers (indicted for hacking and related crimes during the 2016 election)
You act as if brickhistory doesn't know those things. It's not willful ignorance on his part - he just doesn't care. It could come out that Donald Trump himself directed illegal payments be made directly to Russian state hackers with the intent of subverting American democracy and he wouldn't care - because his guy won.

If you are on a dependent restricted tour and decide to 7-day opt because of this BS requal ADSC, what happens? Does your DEROS and DOS get moved to the day your ADSC ends and you are stuck without your family for potentially 3-4 years? Asking for a friend.
You ask as if you think anybody thought about any of these things before changing this reg.
-
They asked for $60k per year and at the same time told congress it wasn't about the money. Now they tell this revisionist history narrative that blames congress rather than their own mismanagement.

-
Anybody know if dependents can be added if you're in the IRR? Benefit is already transfered.
-
So can you now 3 day opt all 365 deployments within 4 years of your ADSC, since the return requal will trigger this new ADSC which will put you beyond your UPT commitment?

Flying at night in Asia is like day flying in the states.
But no seriously your body clock is way screwed up for a couple days. The amount of night flying you do is, you guessed it, based on seniority.
