  1. Is the vibe to wait out UAL contract then go from there or what?

Well I’m still a newb but I really don’t think so. From what I’ve heard on the line and in the lounges, we’re (Delta pilots) mostly angry at management for prolonging these negotiations while profits soar on our backs. The consensus seems to be: no concessions, industry leading contract in all aspects, with inflation PLUS significant raises and QOL increases, and nothing short of full retro pay for the ~3 years since the contract became amendable. Don’t really hear a lot of talk of other airlines contracts but certainly people are watching. We seem to have a lot of pissed-off, hard-liners who estimate that we have the leverage to shoot for the moon. But TBH I think the “moonshot” which will be quite expensive for the company, is actually the fair deal considering that our contract is nearly 6 years old.

  2. This is oldish news but figured I’d post for the masses since I didn’t see it on here. Delta pilots held a strike authorization vote in October. The results were resounding. 96% voted and 99% of the voters voted in favor.

There’s several more steps in the process before any actual strike could occur, and it’s probably not likely to happen, but it certainly doesn’t hurt at the negotiating table. Delta pilots won’t be the first to snap up a turd of a contract.

  3. Wow I feel like I must’ve missed something after reading Clearedhot’s experience. I did a 45 minute phone call with a VSO who went through my record with me and submitted the paperwork. Then I did some bloodwork, a hearing test, and a mobility test/ q/a session with a Doc contracted by the VA. Did all of that in one location, took about 2 hours. Don’t have my rating yet, probably going to get shorted.

  4. There should be someone at your base who handles that. For me, our base TAP coordinator put me in contact with him and he was able to send me screenshots of the program he used to estimate my retirement pay for a few different retirement scenarios.
Basically, it’s done by calculating your actual base pay in each of the previous 36 months multiplied by the percentage which is prorated to the month.

  5. Here's the most recent study that shows that in a relatively vaccinated area, LA, 90% of ICU beds for folks with COVID were entirely unvaccinated individuals. 84% of hospitalizations were entirely unvaccinated. And 85% of deaths were unvaccinated. LA, for the record, has 59% of it's population fully vaccinated, with 66% having at least one dose. That means that 34% of the population - those who are unvaccinated - make up 84-90% of medical interventions that go to the level of admittance up to an ICU bed.

Tell me. Does any of this matter?

But how many of those unvaccinated people would be in the ICU if they’d made more healthy life choices prior to their choice to not get an experimental vaccine? If they weren’t obese/diabetic/heart disease/etc due to an unhealthy diet promoted for decades by the USDA and immensely influential corporate entities, would their vaccine status matter as much? We should always look beyond first-order effects.

  6. I’m retiring with less than 3 years time in grade as O-5. Apparently that means I’ll be retiring as a Major even though I’ve been pinned on Lt Col for 2.5 years. Can anyone explain to me what this actually means? My pay isn’t affected since the high-3 doesn’t take into account what grade you retire in. Any other ramifications of this that I should be aware of?

  7. Random bar talk with bro's and this question popped up: Is it possible to curtail the bonus (I imagine pay it back in full) and get rid of the ADSC and/or Palace Chase from the ADSC?

Not sure about the PC option. But I requested a SecAF waiver to curtail my bonus ADSC and pay back the unearned portion to retire at 20. It was denied. But this was also pre-Covid. YMMV

  8. For all the folks complaining that Trump has been muzzled, ya know, there’s a way for him to get his message out:
image.thumb.jpeg.131220c6b632a55ae1fc6214e3268732.jpegWhen’s the last time this podium was used? Seemed to work fine for every president preceding Trump. Sorry, but I always thought Twitter was an inappropriate place for presidential messaging anyway. Let’s see the man show his face and explain himself.

Actually just a few days before you posted this. He did just that. Did you miss it because it wasn’t covered by any leftist news outlets?

  9. What? I was talking about the comparison to AETC and it not being a healthy group of people.  If you'd like to go on Parlor, well now you can't.  But there's a few sites grabbing responses to "leaders" (ex. Sidney Powell, Flynn) on there and you should look at those responses.

My apologies to you then. I assumed you were affirming the misconception that Parler predominantly consists of social media misfits. And it is spelled with an “er”. And actually you still can. But we’ll see for how long...

  10. No you’re actually missing the point entirely. When it became apparent that the leftist tech/social media giants were unabashedly censoring the speech of prominent right voices, the next move was clear. Do what everyone said (which has been said on this very thread several times): create your own platform. The platform luckily already existed and people naturally flocked to it (hence the recent surge in downloads you just shrugged off.) If you believe Parler was killed because it’s a threat to national security than you might want to expand your critical thinking skills. Parler was killed in an effort to maintain control of the narrative.

  11. The problem Parler has is that they are the dumping ground for everyone that got kicked off normal social media for rules violations. This isn't a healthy pool of people from which to draw your user base. Think of it like AETC. It's no wonder the culture is toxic when you're getting the rejects from everywhere else. On top of that they weren't enforcing their own terms of service or maybe the wretched hive of scum and villainy grew too large to enforce, and at some point the hosting companies took notice.

Care to explain how you came to this conclusion?

  12. Disagree with the “intentionally meant to not be taken seriously“ assessment. I didn’t see it that way at all. Pretty sure he wasn’t intending to joke. But you can and will believe whatever you want. Regardless my point stands. No way Trump gets a pass on a statement like that. Regardless of his clear intent.
