  2. I’ll tell you that if the AF wants more talented leaders they need to stop focusing on exec, aide, PME etc and actually pay attention beyond the spreadsheet of who has leadership talent and who doesn’t.

  5. Good Old Lawman, such a jovial guy, finds a way to turn every conversation into some weird, unsolicited, dick measuring contest. I know an Air Force TACP who killed a bunch of guys with his rifle. That’s way more dead guys than a lot of Army Infantry dudes have killed…See how obnoxious that sounds? Anyway, always loved this story. Air America UH-1 with an air to air kill on an AN-2. https://theaviationgeekclub.com/incredible-story-air-america-uh-1d-huey-shot-north-vietnamese-2-colt-biplane/

  6. It all makes sense though when you realize it’s all just to bribe people to vote for you. A bunch of these lefties probably know it will kill jobs, so they get a 2 for 1 bribe. Tell the poor people they’re going to make $25 an hour, you get their votes. Natural economics takes over and said employees now lose their jobs and need govt suppprt; perfect opportunity to bribe for further votes with more govt handouts.

  7. There is no explaining any of it other than PFM. An admin master sergeant just retired from my base after a career of clerk work, where he only deployed once, to a desk at the deid. Dude has 100% disability. Meanwhile, an old fighter pilot who has deployed countless times and can't look behind him without turning his entire body around is sitting at 40%. He who complains/documents the most, seems to end up with a high rating.

  9. Stand your ground law by US jurisdiction Stand-your-ground by statute Stand-your-ground by judicial decision or jury instruction Duty to retreat except in one's home Duty to retreat except in one's home or workplace Duty to retreat except in one's home or vehicle or workplace Middle-ground approach Thirty-eight states are stand-your-ground states, all but eight by statutes providing "that there is no duty to retreat from an attacker in any place in which one is lawfully present": Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa,[23] Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio,[24][25][26] Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming; Puerto Rico is also stand-your-ground.[27][28] Of these, at least eleven include "may stand his or her ground" language (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and South Dakota.)[28] Pennsylvania limits the no-duty-to-retreat principle to situations where the defender is resisting attack with a deadly weapon.[29] The other eight states[30] have case law/precedent or jury instructions so providing: California,[31][32] Colorado,[33][34] Illinois, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont,[35] Virginia,[36] and Washington;[37][38] the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands also falls within this category. Eleven states impose a duty to retreat when one can do so with absolute safety: Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island. New York, however, does not require retreat when one is threatened with robbery, burglary, kidnapping, or sexual assault. Washington, D.C. adopts a "middle ground" approach, under which "The law does not require a person to retreat," but "in deciding whether [defendant] reasonably at the time of the incident believed that s/he was in imminent danger of death or serious bodily harm and that deadly force was necessary to repel that danger, you may consider, along with any other evidence, whether the [defendant] could have safely retreated ... but did not."[39] Wisconsin also adopts a "middle ground" approach, where "while there is no statutory duty to retreat, whether the opportunity to retreat was available goes to whether the defendant reasonably believed the force used was necessary to prevent an interference with his or her person."[40] There is no settled rule on the subject in American Samoa and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In all duty to retreat states, the duty to retreat does not apply when the defender is in the defender's home (except, in some jurisdictions, when the defender is defending against a fellow occupant of that home). This is known as the "castle doctrine". In Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, and Nebraska, the duty to retreat also does not apply when the defender is in the defender's place of work; the same is true in Wisconsin and Guam, but only if the defender is the owner or operator of the workplace. In Wisconsin and Guam, the duty to retreat also does not apply when the defender is in the defender's vehicle. Twenty-two states have laws that "provide civil immunity under certain self-defense circumstances" (Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wisconsin).[28] At least six states have laws stating that "civil remedies are unaffected by criminal provisions of self-defense law" (Hawaii, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Dakota, and Tennessee).[28]

  20. Was the 2020 election “stolen?” No, I don’t think so as there is no evidence of large scale, impactful voter fraud. But was it substantially skewed towards one candidate through a concerted effort at the fed and state level in collusion with media companies and big tech, fuck yeah it was. And that to me is just as big of a problem as “direct” voter fraud.

  21. The 114th Fighter Squadron is holding a hiring board in June for the F-35 training pipeline. Please submit applications to the MilRecruiter link below. Due to the number of application packages we have received and the high ops tempo that we currently have, we are putting a hold on squadron visits. We will plan on extending invites to visit the squadron after your application has been received and reviewed. If you are invited, you can plan on attending a visit during the May drill from the 3rd-5th of May. We will attempt to get invites out as soon as possible. I realize this is not ideal for planning purposes but due to TDYs and the mission this is where we are at. app.milrecruiter.com/SquadronPage/613a553d60631a2cee9c520a Feel free to ask any additional questions here. Best of luck! Mighty Mighty

  25. ORD was my first taxi out as an airline pilot. Dude, talk about a wake up call. Luckily I had a good captain who looked at me right before I called for clearance and said "wait, this is your first time ever taxing a commercial aircraft?" "Yep" "Ok, write this down" and proceeded to give me what he expected the taxi instructions to be. He was 95% correct and a huge help. He also said 'don't be surprised if they read off your taxi instructions and then go on to the next airplane without giving you a chance to read back'. I think I said "WTF, can they do that?" "This is Chicago, FAA regs are more like suggestions..."

  26. Springer, now we are the Dinos that we talked about and with....In the early 70s, stationed in USAFE, I met an O-6 during NATO Crested Cap that asked me to help him plan a Low Level into France. As I recall, I think he was the CC of the "Tacos" (New Mexico ANG) flying A-7s. When asked the Route he wanted to fly and why, he told me he had flown P-51s and wanted to see his WW2 Airfield, even if it was no longer there. Flew three wars. I think he was probably about a young 55 or so!

  27. Colorado and Washington do. A lot of blue states have the Castle Doctrine. Castle Doctrine first appeared specific to state and local laws in 1985 in Colorado. Colorado’s law shielded people from criminal and civil liability for using force against a home invader.

  31. The key to getting lost on the airport is to never admit it. Just keep moving and hope you figure it out soon. A few days ago in CAE, we had a Bonanza request progressive after receiving one of the easiest taxi instructions I've ever heard. Tower, keyed the mic 3 or 4 times (likely thinking WTF) and finally said just follow the 717. We taxied an little further ahead and made a right on to the runway. I'm guessing their iPad died 🤣.

  32. Here’s some good advice, keep your rating to yourself. There some veterans, usually former grunts from the Army and Marines, who assume one has to be a quadriplegic to have a high VA rating. This really goes for 100 P&T.

  33. I was a punk when they rolled out the coat hanger abortion that was the first release of JMPS. We didn't have any civilian help so it was left to the punks to get it up and running, fix any bugs and make it work. I spent lots of time on the phone with Penguin (can't remember his last name...Roberts maybe) out at Hill, who was a former fighter guy and the guru on JMPS. If I remember correctly, he said JMPS told wasn't certified because the engineers showed that sometimes ut produced an error of 1 knot on the abort speed. This is how dumb they are with this shit. I'd love to put everyone in the sim and force them to make an abort decision with exactly 1 knot difference. Or even better, have everyone try to gonk told manually and have everyone get the correct numbers and an abort speed within a knot lol.

  36. We recently had a mod that we had to go to a dinky airport in New Jersey where you got your IFR clearance by calling McGuire on the phone at the end of the runway. Of course the guy I call is maybe an English 4th language type and about all I understood was "clearance void if not off the ground in 2 minutes" I just took off and turned toward what I thought was the VOR he said to go toward. Seemed to work out.

  39. On the flip side I got to learn Part 121, ORD, JFK, LAX, MIA all during COVID, when there were only 5 planes moving. Hell I cleared Runway 18 at EHAM and got to taxi to park with the tower (about a 5 mile taxi) as we were the only one moving on the entire airport. But you gotta love follow the greens man. Everyone needs to get on board with that system.

  40. My favorite: the ground controller that leaves the mic keyed while she thinks through her next move. ”UA534 continue on bravo then, uhhhmm, no that’s not gonna work, just keep going and I’ll get back to you, break, let’s see who’s next, oh yeah, DL1276 I see you already parked on the bravo pad, that will work let me know when ramp is ready for you, who am I forgetting…” FFS let go of the fucking mic already!
