  1. Frankly I find the failure of two FY NDAAs in a row to address inflation parity, a bigger source of retention woes than the bonus offering, going forward.

  2. In the defense of industry though the pay is generally higher all around. You don't need to be *as reactive* with these things when you're paying people on par with their skill set to begin with. I also think a major problem for the DoD at the moment is the moral injury left by the defeat in GWOT. When you rely on "service to your country" as a significant portion of your compensation package but then fail to deliver ends in that nature you're going to have a whole generation of young people saying "couldnt I do more good for the world somewhere else?" And the problem is.... right now, they absolutely can.

  3. Your last sentence is spot on. To the sim thing, has anyone here ever been asked to prove the didn't do any mloa while on a reserve day? I know I haven't, nor has any of the 20+ DAL squadron mates I've had over the years. If so, I'd like to see the whole picture because I'm guessing there is much more to the story. I'm generally the last one to defend the company, but the 1% is out there...and they're often the loudest complainers and the stories you hear about. If you have a CPO friend (or just chat with CPO mil dude on a sit), ask if they're willing to share stories of guys who found themselves on the radar. My guess is you'll be quite surprised at what some of the dudes are doing out there. I believe USERRA is the minimum protection a company HAS to offer. If the company offered such a program, you wouldn't need USERRA protections because the company is voluntarily going above and beyond. Maybe, but at the end of the day, the company can hire who they choose, put them through indoc and let them go on a leave. So they may be involved, but I can't imagine they can stop such a plan, nor would I understand why they would.

  4. Thank You for your service and I wish I had the drunken excuse. Wouldn’t be hard to remedy that and could you imagine what I might post if I were. Fortunately I have a breathalyzer attached to this equipment. Hope your new gig is treating you great!

  6. No no… the fact that literally nobody in a position of responsibility resigned or was fired after people fell off our gawd damned airplanes trying to escape and you had Apaches literally herding people off the runway with their wheels (and took fire in a few occasions)…. Totally normal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. If it affects seniority... and this certainly does... I would bet my bottom dollar that the union would be involved.

  8. Thank you for that offer. The advertising covers the cost of the server, domain name, and now the SSL. I was doing certificates myself, but it was time consuming and when life was too busy (like the last few days), I kept dropping it out of my crosscheck. I've added automated certificate management and it shouldn't happen again.

  11. Would definitely be a game changer, but the unions will never allow something like this.

  12. On a UPT Nav cross country, Jan 1987. We parked our T-38 next to the “Texas Raider” a few older gents came by asking for a tour of the -38, and then reciprocated and let us wander around inside the Texas Raider. They even let me climb up on the wing to take this photo. RIP

  13. They typically put you in a random AFSC and you just chill for drill. Making corn, filling the bar, etc. usually the first action is to gain you prior to IFC1. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  14. I've never been more impressed than rolling up to take our PFT and seeing a few young Marines in the squadron smoking a heater after the pullups and situps, prior to the run, then knocking out a sub 18:00 three mile, following it up with another heater and a Monster. Where do we find such men?

  16. I mean it’s not objectively fast, but it drives fast/fun. Kinda like your mom…she’s not actually hot but it all pretty much feels the same on the inside 😁

  17. I’m trying to figure out what problem is trying to be solved here. An armed bizjet at 55k in a beam orbit with side radars isn’t going to last very long if someone doesn’t want it to be there.
