  1. If everyone is equally transmissible, then why single out unvaccinated people to take weekly tests? These people will actually KNOW when they are sick because they would have symptoms. The vaccinated are like walking Trojan horses...less symptoms but same transmission.

  2. Except we are celebrating it… Go look at social media people are taking this as an excuse to expose all the times they handed in their chit at whatever challenge the encountered to be applauded by others in this self licking ice cream cone. You wanna quit something fine, good for you, now move the F along. This isn’t about whether it’s right to quit, it’s about a mob of idiots so used to easy self satisfaction in the form of like/upvote/whatever that not only is quitting good, we need to reevaluate why we as a society place so much emphases on success. This is the “everybody gets a trophy” coach still takes you out for ice cream after you lose but on a whole new level. You don’t want to stand on the podium fine, step down and clap for those that do. While the media sphere spends effort and Oxygen in Simone there is a whole team of people earning medals and still putting down that are not being talked about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. While I’m sure a lot of that article is written intentionally to be provocative for the purpose of sharing and therefor add revenue… His points on the “cult of the Loser” and its toxic effect on society and culture are spot on. What next, we gonna have a book deal and movie for the guy that rang the bell 3 days into Hell Week at BUDS? Nothing worth having comes easy. We put champions on a podium for a reason, to stand above those and be awed by those who lack the skill drive and determination to be greater than the herd. That’s not something to be ashamed of, and the people suddenly pushing that narrative were probably picked last at Dodgeball and now feel like thanks to the magic of the Internet they can make that because society is toxic and not because they were the fattest slowest kid in 4th grade no matter how much gram gram told them they were special. 5. I'm not certain how flippantly or seriously I'm taking my analogies, but I do know that with each passing month, this COVID thing makes my head explode, especially now that we're re-masking on base. I don't know how anyone can be contemptuous or condescending to non-vaxxers. Considering the survival rate of the actual virus for healthy people under the age of 70, and considering the track record of the science/government/media conglomeration of "experts", everyone should think long and hard about electing to get vaccinated. We can all compose a laundry list of examples in which something went very wrong with scientific "expertise", whether it be the imminent ice age of the 1970s, thalidomide, or the pitiful track record on COVID. ("Masks won't help! It's not an airborne virus! COVID won't be a big deal! The flu will be worse! There's no way it came from a lab! Yes it did! No it didn't! You should wear two masks! If you get vaccinated, you won't ever need a mask! Yes you will!" ) On and on it goes. And yes, I have been vaccinated, as has my family (and that second shot was not fun). I especially cannot understand the mindset of those who demand more lockdowns, mandatory vaccinations, and masks for elementary school kids. Everything in life is a risk/cost/benefit trade-off, and the world has gone so far off the deep end with this COVID thing that it's incomprehensible. Why not ban air travel? People die! Reduce the highway speed limit to 45! Ban swimming pools! And alcohol! And make sure your kindergartner is wearing two masks on the playground! No, wait! Ban playgrounds! Utter madness.

  6. I might have more respect for the decision if she hasn't gone out of her way to brand herself the GOAT just a few weeks prior to the Olympics. A little humility goes a long way.

  7. The AF has been in deep shit for a while. They just had a COVID induced loss of sensory information and haven’t been able to smell it for the last year and a half.

  9. I’m still unclear why you guys are triggered about Biles getting press. This isn’t some rookie the media anointed. I assume you’re unaware that she won 6 straight individual world championships leading into these. If Michael Phelps or Usain Bolt had withdrawn while favored to repeat I’d have also found that to be newsworthy at face value, not because of the invisible hand of some media overlord. To riff off the analogy a few posts back, I think this situation would be a little more like someone “quitting” BUDS for a medical after previously making it through #1 in their class 6 straight years. And if that actually happened we’d be sitting around going “damn, can you believe the run that dude had,” not whining about socialist participation trophies and cults of losers. Relax, the kids are alright.

  10. Damn… just to hammer home this point one more time because this randomly came up in my news feed and points out exactly what I’m talking about. It’s like they invested so much, we can’t not point a spotlight at her. Yeah it’s unfair to make her a media mule for the machine, and yes she absolutely deserves to make the choice for herself on what and how she wants to live. This is still ridiculous though that she not competing is still receiving all this attention and limelight. If you’re number 3 or 4 on the gymnastics team or in any other Team USA position, how can you not be outraged that your moment is being hijacked for this. Table her situation and conversation for after the games. This is the time to celebrate champions, and they deserve their time and exposure on the podium. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  11. Well I had to register a new account here because for some reason I haven't been able to get into my original one, which I've had for almost two decades. No luck from the "Contact Us" option either, but enough about that. First off, I haven't gotten "the shot" yet. I dpn't categorize myself as an "anti-vaxxer" though and I have a 2-1/2 page shot record to prove it, but with that being said, I am definitely not keen on putting something in my body to alter my immune system that has only been tested for "emergency use". Not to mention that COVID vaccines were a goldmine for Big Pharma. This is very similar to the Anthrax vaccine and a lot of military members got kicked out for refusing to get it. How soon we forget about THAT debacle about two decades ago. There were a lot of people who dodged that shot for years (me included) and now you don't even hear about it anymore after the FDA mysteriously approved it after the GAO concluded their investigation. Today, "kids" walk into the clinic with their sleeves held high, no questions asked, for a vaccine I still question the need for. Why do we still get? Smoke and mirrors and the fact the DoD spent over $1B on the AVIP. The difference here is that the general public was not told they had to get the Anthrax vaccine. https://www.militarytimes.com/news/pentagon-congress/2021/06/17/troops-who-refused-anthrax-vaccine-paid-a-high-price/ Why is the government pushing vaccination so hard? Just like anything else in this world, it's all about the money... https://mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKBN28X1GC I chose not to get the COVID vaccine (yet) because of the research showing good evidence that the MMR2 vaccine provides some defense against COVID. I've had my two-shot series within the last 4 years. I think I'll take my chances. https://www.news-medical.net/amp/news/20210505/Prior-MMR-or-Tdap-vaccination-may-reduce-risk-of-severe-COVID-19.aspx https://www.nih.gov/news-events/nih-research-matters/measles-vaccine-used-base-experimental-covid-vaccine

  13. Katie Herzog is a reporter, and was a staff writer for "The Stranger," which is a very left wing Seattle paper. She's also a lefty lesbian. Bari Weiss is a former New York Times reporter, also left of center and married to a woman. It's a far cry from "some lady's blog." And it sure as hell isn't a Newsmax/OANN fever dream.

  14. I'm just a pilot like most of the people here commenting. We all deal with risk mitigation every day, as well as policies and rules that are smart and those that are dumb and those that are political. It's nothing new. I am not a doctor but know enough about math to be statistically literate. I do like Nassim Talebs ideas on risk mitigation. Specifically "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence." The vaccine might be almost 100% safe. It might have major long term side effects. There is no long term data on mRNA vaccines. There will be in the future because so many people are being vaccinated right now. A huge sampling pool will lead to some very accurate future analysis. I just have no interest in being part of that pool. As a relatively young healthy dude who has probably already had COVID I can see no real upside to getting a vaccine and a lot of downsides. The way I see it, it's little different than investing in options in the market that have a probable gain but might bankrupt you. I did the mortality math a year ago and flying a single fighter training sortie had the same mortality for me as COVID. Why is the government and the media pushing for this so hard? THAT to me is creepy as hell. edit - spelling
