  1. You are seeing the classic deny, deny, counter-accuse tactic used on this thread by some on the left. They’ve denied CRT exists. They’ve denied CRT is being taught in schools. And they’ve followed up with a irrelevant creationism argument. Teaching creationism or personal finance has absolutely nothing to do with CRT. It’s all about the pivot when you know you can’t defend your side’s position. CRT is the next step in the process of demonizing straight white men. It’s designed to create division and resentment for future generations. I’ve said in previous comments that we’ve gone from Nazi’s to white supremacists to now the entire country and system is based on oppression and racism. As some have pointed out, CRT isn’t about simply teaching history - the good and the bad. It’s about creating a narrative that our country is fundamentally flawed and must be changed. And it was exposed because of COVID. Parents were able to listen to what their kids teachers were saying while on classroom zoom calls. I’m glad parents are standing up to this garbage. I think we are going to see a lot more people pushing back, in many different arenas and over many different topics. The progressive left is absolutely out of control. This is all becoming an argument of right vs wrong or good vs evil and not just differing political views.

  2. You were saying? https://www.manhattan-institute.org/embracing-critical-theory-teachers-union-says-they-control-what-kids-learn At what point do you guys realize that you have no idea what you're talking about? Further, will you recognize that your ignorance is part of the strategy employed by the very movement you seem to believe doesn't exist?

  4. It is a video, so that's probably not going to tell you what you want to know. Short version: - Interview process is now a video screening interview, followed by a single-day in-person interview in Atlanta. - No more Job Knowledge Test - During the single-day interview, there will be a panel interview, the MMPI assessment, and the psychiatrist session.

  5. The thing that pisses me off the most here is that while we all shit-sling about CRT, there actually is a topic that, if you taught it to every child in America, would go a long way in leveling the playing field Democrats are so convinced is systemically unfair. That topic is called Basics of Personal Finance. Proposed lesson plans include: What is interest? How can it work for me and against me? How does a loan work? How do credit cards work? How do I make a budget? How much should I save and for what? What is a retirement plan? How do I invest my money? What is appreciation and depreciation? The fact that financial literacy is not regarded as the absolute most important thing to teach in public school has always blown my mind. I had a substitute teacher play Dave Ramsey videos for a week once in 11th grade, and if I hadn't already been taught most of those concepts by my parents it would have been the most consequential week of education in my life.

  6. I would 300,000 times rather have a school teach creationism theory over CRT. I would rather kids learn there is a theory that everything was potentially created by a loving God and the science behind it that potentially supports it. Instead of CRT which is a lie and a cult. Super sick and no where in any shape or form based on fact or science and actually calls out to action. Indoctrinates our kids and pushes them to a mean hateful way of life that’s racist. You’re either a victim or a victim created in CRT. Either way is bad and just pure trash. So consider that a loving God created everything or that it’s ok to discriminate against race sex or creed and that everything our country is founded on is wrong. You’re not dumber than than the quantifiable smart people or it’s not your fault you don’t have money, you’re oppressed and need the government to support you. I’m fine with not teaching either to our kids not interested in creating victims and fostering a racist mentality in our country I can’t believe that our society is even considering this. But this is the same society that is supposedly systematically racist (that minorities in droves come here to join every year) with zero proof or evidence. We are just supposed to now after 60 years of being told measure a man by his character and it’s wrong to judge him by the color of his skin, sex, creed to a mentality that says it’s ok to discriminate based on race, sex, or creed. It’s sick and un-American.

  7. They flat out say, “yes, we are incorporating CRT into K-12 education.” And the facts back that claim up. To me it’s an apolitical topic…no type of morals/values/lens (beyond basic don’t-break-laws societal norms) belong in public education. If you want religion taught at school, send your kids to a religious private school, if you want CRT-driven curriculum, send your kids to the CRT private school, if you want kids to learn in a drum circle from a teacher named Flower send them to the hippie private school, etc. If you can’t afford those/don’t want to, then teach the values/morals you want to at home, and let the public school take care of non-politicized/agenda-driven math, science, history, and literacy. Pretty simple and apolitical concept…in theory.

  11. When I was at BAF they we were in the "hardened" shelters with the T-walls that were 2-3 stories tall. I was on the ground floor and thought that if any IDF came in vertical enough to hit the ground floor or collapse the whole thing, getting on the floor wouldn't help.

  12. I'm no SWA sunshine pumper, but this is all a bit of hyperbole. 1. 73 for the rest of your life? "Like anyone can even know that." We have no idea what's going on tomorrow in this company, so it's a pretty bold statement that we'll be flying the 73 for the next 30 years (assuming you're ~35 years old now). I'd put a round of Boilermakers on us having a different airplane in the fleet in the next 30 years. 2. Multi-leg days? Sure. I don't know many guys/gals that do 1 leg a day, no matter the airline. And if you do, it's probably a long leg. I'd guess the duty days are about the same. Give me three 1.5 hour legs over one 7 hour leg, but that's just me. I've had plenty of trips with only one leg in a day. 3. Same towns? Doesn't every airline fly to the same towns? We have ~120 destinations and no one has added more in the past year than we have. If you think SWA isn't going to grow even more in the future than I don't know what to tell you. When looking at seniority, it really means jack shit if you can't hold the base you want to hold. Looking at retirements only tells part of the story. Can you upgrade faster at AA vs. SW? More than likely. But I'm assuming you'll be stuck in NY or MIA or whatever the junior CA bases are at AA. Just like you'll be stuck at OAK or LAX if you upgrade at SW. SWA isn't a bad place to work. Yes, it's all narrow body flying and that's not for everyone, but as a Herk guy who has a 3.0 ass, it's just like flying in the desert. Except no one is shooting at you and the loadmasters look better (sometimes). Only having one aircraft in the fleet is good and bad. As previously stated, if you want to fly something else, you can't (for now). At the same time, if I want to trade away a trip, I have roughly 4500 other FOs as trade partners. I can pick up extra flying as a reserve holder and even trade my reserve for a trip if someone is willing (supposedly most airlines don't have this option). 99% of the CAs I've flown with have been really great dudes that generally don't give a shit about how you fly as long as you get us there safely. On the other hand, the ra-ra OnE LuV shit is wearing off. We're all "one team, one heart" until they threaten furloughs 2 weeks before Christmas, knowing they had no intentions of actually following through with them. One thing that came out of it is our pilot group and Union are stronger than ever (this coming from the mouths of the old guys). The company thinks pilots will choose to come here versus others because we treat our pilots better and "we've never furloughed!" but that's all now bullshit. We get paid less per hour and we generally work harder. I'd advise anyone to do homework and pick an airline that fits your lifestyle. Also look at seniority at your desired base, not just company wide.

  16. I was at Bagram in 2011-2012 for my 13-month sentence to the MC-12 (a mess of a program that was mismanaged, with poor leadership, poor training, and a huge range of pilot abilities: incredibly shitty, to some of the best tactical minds and pilots I've ever met). Do y'all remember the Afghan guy that served ice cream in the chow hall? That guy looked like he had seen some violence, and the hatred in his eyes was intense. I always thought he would find a way to grab someone's weapon and open fire. I looked him in the eyes every time I left, if he was working. I've ram-dumped nearly all of the time I spent at Bagram. It's like a hazy dream now. What a mess.

  17. Also what’s being taught needs to be grounded in fact or highly likely theory. Not obvious lies or even covert lies. CRT is an obvious lie and is hilarious. Because it is racist at its core and outside. Funny that advocates don’t see the lies or racism.

  18. Our district is espousing CRT. So yeah, it’s out there. Probably in far more places than you think. The way I see this, teaching creationism in school, you name it…do what you think is best at home as a parent, but keep all of that out of public schools. The govt/public schools does not get to teach morals, core values, lens, etc…that’s the job of parents. The public schools can obviously can draw the line on academic cheating and breaking laws…but anything beyond that is now into personal morals, values, etc…not their place or purpose.

  19. Why don't you describe it for us?

  20. Either you’re incredibly wrong, or I could potentially see a POV that people have grossly misread and misapplied CRT in the education system (e.g. what they’re doing isn’t implementing CRT, but that doesn’t mean they’re not implementing horrific policies). Either way, what’s happening in public education is a disaster and people need to stand up and stop this bullshit.

  23. Agreed, it doesn't belong. But I doubt Crenshaw or Cotton could accurately describe what CRT actually is. And it isn't in our military, or K-12 curriculum anywhere. This is a culture war Boogeyman with as much factual basis behind it as razor blades in Halloween candy, or the "War on Christmas." Media personalities everywhere are giving airtime to politicians trying to build capital based on CRT fear.
